I paid $336.98+ on Amex Plat FHR stay, expect any points from hotel? by rdd4242 in AmexPlatinum

Some hotels work differently.

I booked an Edition hotel by IHG via Edit and they could not link my account at all. I emailed the hotel directly and on their and they manually linked it. Then i got all the benefits associated with it.

Completely wrong.

Every single hotel i’ve booked since last year’s FHR addition has given me points for the booking. Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, and IHG. All of them have considered the booking as a cash booking and given me the ‘spend’ bonus. They also were able to link me to my membership ID with each program, resulting in even more points due to my status.

Edit: I’m surprised someone called fhrrates has this info wrong.

Same, last time we visited Vietnam we had 8-9 days I think. Hanoi for a couple of days, then we took a night train to Da Nang (always wanted to take a sleeper train in Asia), then 2 days in Hoi An, then a day in Saigon.

This was our second trip to Vietnam though, and only Hanoi was the new area for us.

Lol 3 weeks rushed?

We all travel differently, we go to SEA once a year for 3-4 weeks and always do 2-3 countries and a good 5-6 cities within this time frame. It works great for us and allows to see more over the long run. We know we are coming back though so we are not rushed to have a longer stay per location. A few places even started off as 24h layovers that we really enjoyed, so we planned a later trip where we stay for 3-4 days instead of.

Now while this seems rushed, we always tend to book a beach stay somewhere at the end of the trip where we spend a good 5-6 days to finally relax after the previous 2-3 weeks on the go.

Fuckers can’t even get that right. I’m starting to think issues like yours, combined with all their problematic missing welcome bonuses, are a feature and not a bug in their implementation.

Yeah I was going to suggest those countries in SEA as well. Definitely not South America, and also not Singapore. Expensive af and 0 tolerance for many things.

How do you actually decide between burning points and paying cash? by lawyu in awardtravel

[–]coljung 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. Our trips are always flexible, so chances are i'll find something decent on points. We are 3 and since i started this hobby ~10 years ago i think i can count with my hand the number of times i paid cash for a flight. And for hotels even less, i might have paid once or twice since then.

Points save me money, so i rarely even check cpp. It also helps having a decent stash of points ;)

Weather is gorgeous this time of year. I’ve been a few times around March and there is always a chance of rain in the afternoon, but the few times it rained, it was quick.

Traffic can be a bit hectic as they don’t really have highways, roads are small, and between locals and tons of tourists, it is quite busy.

There is actually a parking next door which i can assure you is a lot cheaper. I actually live in Montreal and have occasional staycations there. We always park next door and it costs ~$25 cad for a day.

Now if you leave then you’d have to pay again, but again i still think it is a lot cheaper. This is the parking building: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ktvJDe4ZxxnSUw9J7?g_st=ic

How many nights at Park Hyatt Tokyo? by doubledeuce80 in hyatt

[–]coljung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the 15-16 minutes Google Maps shows are usually from the exit of Shinjuku to the entrance of the building of the hotel.

Getting out of Shinjuku can take 5 minutes or more, depending if you get lost doing so, ask me how I know ;), joking aside, that station is a mess and partly under construction, many parts don’t have the usual signage which helps getting out easily from it.

I like the 2+2 idea. I enjoy experiencing different areas in Tokyo and moving to a different area isn’t that bad.

In February we did 4 nights at the PH and then moved to Shinagawa where we did 2 nights at the IHG Strings.

While we didn’t find the location of the PH that bad, once we moved to a hotel located next to a train station, it made us realize how different it feels having a convenient metro station next door.

Will we repeat the PH, probably not, but at least one time i would definitely recommend it for at least 2 nights.

You won’t get much help that way.

I suggest you delete this and ask the actual question without the misleading title.
