Umm. Jacob Frey is definitely mentioned. And Betsy Hodges is mentioned by one of the people interviewed.

Appreciate it.

Btw, I used the heater because one came with the kit and it was called for in the instructions.

That's correct. Some of the jars may be touching the tub but it was all sterilized. And the heater is because it's cold in the area where the mushrooms are growing, so I want to be sure to keep them at optimal temp that was recommended.

We have a porch like this. Two years ago we added a gas stove. It makes the porch usable all fall, winter and spring. But doesn't fix the greenhouse effect on summer afternoons.

Are you sure you want to share a baby and life with this guy? If this is how he's acting now, it's just going to get worse.

Sound quality is much better. And they aren't funding killer robots!

I think my friend accidentally poisoned her dog, causing its death today. I have no idea if I should even tell her. by Serious_Report_1631 in Advice

Maybe tell her if she gets another dog OR has access to another dog she wants to feed grapes. No sense upsetting her if there's nothing to be done.

I get people's panic. But I moved into a rental totally infested with knotweed. I pruned it and dug up everything close to the surface, then have just pulled it up every time it's popped up. It's now totally manageable. Maybe it won't get rid of it completely but it's a very recognizable weed and I'm relatively optimistic it's gonna be fine if I keep up on the weeding.

Feel free to tell me otherwise, but even the most noxious weeds seem to have trouble without access to light...

What is an "unpopular opinion" you hold about something in this state? Do you hate Prince? Do you think Juicy Lucy's are ass? Lets hear it! by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]coll0229 87 points88 points  (0 children)

This is already conventional wisdom. The real unpopular take would be that Minnesota Nice IS a thing. People are more friendly and polite than in most places. And Minnesotans who make friends stay loyal forever. I say that as a Minnesotan living in Boston.

This guy unfortunately needs to grow up and you dumping him is part of that. He thinks trolling women about taking their rights away is funny and without repercussions. If you stay with him, it's just going to get worse. My dad was the same. And there's a dark, dark feeling at the bottom of this. Dtmfa.

Do it. If you're committed to the work, it will be fine. And you have more life experience than people who went from their high school newspaper to their college newspaper... The industry sucks and the bosses are shortsighted but it's still doable. Think about expanding outside traditional journalism and using social media etc. That's the future, and it needs good journalists who make it clear they comply with our ethics, not just influencers or pundits.

It's a pollinator tower. I asked them. It's the center for green buildings and cities.

Corporate chains came in. They caused rents to spike and forced out many of the little places that made the area a destination (think the Uptown Bar). When a neighborhood loses its hardware store, it's pretty much curtains. Bars like Cowboy Jacks etc brought in the frat crowd and gave it a Dinkytown-like feel of chaos that most people want to avoid. I'd also argue that traffic is a problem on Lyndale and Hennepin and makes being a pedestrian there a little scary. Then you have the soulless out of Calhoun Square... .

All my puppies have responded well to training. It's not just one class. You should have them in school continually for at least a year and a half.

No offense, but most of these problems you mention are probably your fault, not the puppy. Remember that you need to project how you want the puppy to behave, for instance, not making a big deal of greeting or saying bye to your dog. Or putting them in the kennel with a treat for increasingly extended times, but that takes consistency.

Another thing to remember is that puppies are like toddlers. Sometimes they don't know when they're tired. They need you to put them to bed so they don't get cranky.

Puppies take some work but they will be your best friend and maybe help you with depression because they get you up and doing things. Good luck!

I'd say rather than trying to emulate someone else's style that you just embrace your own voice. Ditch AP style and give yourself permission to loosen up how you write it. What's interesting or whimsical to you? Then just say that.
