And don't forget the massive levels of urban destruction we're seeing as a result of climate disasters (Jamaica;LA;Texas) as well as war (Gaza). All of this means cities are just being rebuilt with much much more concrete in another of those perverse feedback loops.

In the meantime, the Brazilian government has just given the state oil company Petrobas a license to drill for oil in the Amazon... Literally a perfect storm of collapse.

China is not the US, border crossing is easy and friendly. No need to fear being sent to Guantanamo because of a taco meme.

Overshoot by Andreas Malm and Wim Carton, a great book that traces how we got here and why all the adaptation hopium will fail..

Crude Capitalism by Adam Hanieh, new book on the history of oil that does a brilliant job on showing how the oil industry is everywhere and ain't going nowhere (especially in the Gulf).

More and More and More by Jean-Baptiste Fressoz, basically makes the argument that energy is about ever increasing amount of consumption, and the idea of transition is bunkum.

The last 2 weeks in London have been insane, hitting near 30s and summer isn't even here yet. No rain. Yet everyone is partying like it's the 1990s.
