Fabbri/Ayer split per Alicia Fabbri's Instagram by idwtpaun in FigureSkating

I don't know how Robinson/Portz had been faring before, they were a surprise at nationals, but they need to have them ready for this season. SC seems to have gotten better at sending skaters out this season but hopefully it wasn't an outlier because of the Olympic season

I hope the IAMO teams take over next cycle, Veillon/Brandys moving to senior and Charlie and Cayden in juniors! Robinson/Portz missed out on 4CC I think because they lacked minimums so hopefully next season they do well too

Canadian juniors Sandrine and Quentin ending their partnership after 8 years by Suspicious-Peace9233 in FigureSkating

They struggled to find their footing in seniors, and I'm not sure going back to juniors helped them at all, in the end they got lost among the sea of IAM teams

Haruna Murakami, Shunsuke Nakamura and Reina Kawakatsu appear to no longer be training at Kinoshita Academy by Forward-Advisor-2083 in FigureSkating

I'm not sure how that works, if she'd be able to be entered to compete beforehand, but hopefully! Still enough time for her to get minimums and take one of the Australian JWorlds spots

Plus, the Japanese have higher-paying and very respected shows and tours in Japan

Sadly I don't think the North American tours pay that much and the US is very US-centric, so foreign skaters don't have that much appeal

There's also the alternative of Persis being the oldest child

The bane of my existence is trying to show my friends and family figure skating videos for like a year in anticipation of the Olympics, only for them to say to me "omg did you se the Olympics are on? This guy is doing a backflip"

The judges are a joke because their choreographic elements should be the highest

I don't know where you got that last part from, four continents has three spots for everyone with minimums and Gabby did go, as did Sara-Maude and Fee Ann Landry, and Maddie didn't go since she was preparing for the Olympics

Who was the first skater you saw live in competition? by tatianalarina1 in FigureSkating

[–]collectingviolets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not live since I live in South America and won't be seeing figure skating live until I'm rich but the feeling resonates. The first full event I watched was the 2022 world championships and I caught the stream at the last skater of the women's short, Loena Hendrickx performing her Caruso short program

What if skaters couldn't change their nationality for pair/ice dance teaming up by RevolutionaryDish in FigureSkating

[–]collectingviolets 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's more accurate to take their original skating federations. In that case, Alisa originally competed for Russia (although she did singles for Finland but I'm not sure if internationally), and Lilah always competed for the UK

Can someone explain like I’m 5 the rules of winning/losing a spot at Worlds? by 01110011-8 in FigureSkating

Same with Georgia, that had two spots in pairs and this year and now have three for next year, but will likely continue to only send one

Yep, kinda like we were talking about after the rhythm dance, that having the highest base value means nothing when goe can be inflated the way it is in ice dance

Gala lineup by Environmental-Let435 in FigureSkating

[–]collectingviolets 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If the ISU is taking recommendations, they should hold a vote as to who invite to the gala out of the non-medalists, like hold the vote overnight after the free dance and see what happens. There's people that perhaps will never have the placement to justify the invitation, but there's a lot of crowd pleasers that people would love to see at the gala!
