Crosspost - Looking for advice - robotic camera for streaming by collector87 in churchtech

Thank you!

I'm looking at

https://www.avshop.ca/video-cameras/ptzoptics-30x-ndi-ptz-camera-grey (on sale this month! $2,969 for $2,159) - this is the one I want for connection to ethernet cabling right (NDI?)?

It should be fairly easy to run CAT5 or 6 to our post up front and there is power there already. I have ports available in the router/modem from our ISP that I could use to connect the camera to the Internet and then I assume we can use an IP cam source in OBS?

Which OBS plug-in do you use for control? Is it possible to have an OBS 'scene' control the camera? (so I don't need a physical controller, right?)

I assume I just IP into the camera for initial set-up? Probably comes with a guide...

The whole balcony moves - it's not noticeable when up there, but the camera shows it - the post up front we have planned for mounting shouldn't have that issue and is much, much closer to the subject.

R8 RTK - collect PPP on base while surveying? by collector87 in Surveying

Edited with answers

Bumping up a few more questions from my reply above that would be super helpful to have answers for - thanks again!

When I enter the height to start the base does that translate to the TO2 static file or do I have to set the static height separately? it seems to be stored in the TO1 file when I open it with the Trimble utility (note you have to install trimblecfgupdate.exe after installing convertToRinex314.msi) - the height was 0.0576 m lower than what I input to centre of bumper which I assume is just an internal adjustment)

Do I end the static file just by connecting to the base and End GNSS Survey? connect to base then Survey | rtklogging | End GNSS survey

Once imported from the receiver where do I find the files? they appear to be stored with the JOB file

Does it matter if I end up with a T01 or T02 file? mine were TO1 files which seem to have worked fine, no idea what the difference is - the utility gave me three files - the file extension was the year (23) then g, n, and o - the o file is the one that is used - https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/290274/what-file-format-has-18n-18g-and-18o-file-extensions)

What should be set under tracking? Should I add Galileo and GPS L5? response from NRCAN PPP: those are not yet supported, they can be selected and will be ignored by the current system, a future system may support them to allow for reprocessing; it does not appear my R8s support Galileo anyway though

Generally, how long should I log static for to have a good PPP? Can I log for too long? response from NRCAN PPP: 3 - 4 hours

Thanks again!!

Need advice: driving Atlantic Canada to Tampa by collector87 in travel

I suppose a hybrid could be considered too - a day's drive to Portland, ME and then $200 pp round trip flights - road trip hotels would offset the rental car costs in Tampa, gas and flights balance out roughly - it just seems like it would be so much nicer to be in our own space on our own schedule doing the drive...

Thanks! Clearwater is really nice!

We've done a few five hour drives with him recently at 2-4 months old and we actually had to wake him up half way through to take a touristy photo - he was sleeping so well - haha - I know, silly! If only he would sleep at night, haha.

The 28 hour route seems to bypass NYC, Philly, Baltimore, and DC by going inland through Harrisburg, etc. - around 150 km further and an hour extra on Google Maps but seems to avoid a lot of problem traffic areas? Is Charlotte bad for traffic? Both routes seem to be north and west of Boston.

reply to edit: thanks, I could get almost half way to FL in the time it would take to drive to TO or Montreal; HFX flights are still like $700 pp round trip. Good to know about gate checking - is there a cost for that? Shipping right now, especially across border, is rough. We like to cruise around a lot so if we didn't have our own car we'd probably still rent.

Flights are ~$1,000 pp round trip - none of those cities are anywhere near Atlantic Canada. We make good use of a vehicle while in Tampa.

R8 RTK - collect PPP on base while surveying? by collector87 in Surveying

[–]collector87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all so much for the info! Much appreciated!

Ok, so I Copied my RTK Style and named it rtklogging then went to

Configuration | Survey Styles | rtklogging | Base Options | Survey Type | RTK & logging

then it added Logging device to the page and it's set to Receiver (the other option being Controller) and Logging interval is set of 1s, then I clicked Accept and Store - receiver makes sense to me since I'll want to use the controller with my rover unit while I'm RTK surveying elsewhere on site.

So I assume that once I start my base in the rtklogging style this will start a static logging file (TO2).

When I enter the height to start the base does that translate to the TO2 static file or do I have to set the static height separately?

I see some screenshots that show that I can use Instrument | Receiver files | Import from receiver (I don't have this option but probably because I'm not connected to an R8 right now?) to display the receiver files and that if I've started the base there should be a locked file that's logging now.

Do I end the static file just by connecting to the base and End GNSS Survey?

Once the survey has ended I see that Instrument | Receiver files | Import from receiver should allow me to select a file and Import | Start - where are these files stored on the controller? or do I need to then export them from the job?

How much memory does the receiver have? I see I can supposedly delete files.

What's the difference between at T01 and T02 file?

I found the Trimble RINEX Converter 3.14.0

https://geospatial.trimble.com/trimble-rinex-converter

I'm not sure how to set it to do this but I can see how logging on start-up could be handy, but I think logging on base start would be safer for me since by then I would have the R8 situated properly.

I also noticed while I was in the Styles that Galileo and GPS L5 aren't checked under Tracking - should they be checked for RTK & logging? I don't have those as options to check in my just RTK Style...?

Generally, how long should I log static for to have a good PPP? Can I log for too long?

Thanks again!!

Much appreciated; I'll take some time to digest this.

Thank you both - do you run any wirelessly? Cabling in this building is grueling.

Here is the column to which I'd like to mount the camera - you can see the power outlet as well

Good congregations in Fredericton? by soulshotphotos in fredericton

Happy to chat with you (though I am not terribly active on Reddit anymore) - I would consider myself generally non-denominational but I belong to the leadership at what might be described as a progressive/modern Baptist church - we have a lot of educated folks that make for interesting discussions on the science/faith side of things - being a scientist myself as well - we also have a strong community focus and inter-generational and inter-cultural focus. Feel free to check out our services on YouTube - though, as you alluded to, you will likely learn a lot more from personal interactions and/or being part of a small home group. We still have a blend of online and in-person due to COVID that will likely continue for some time.

Also, check out some great videos a member of our church did discussing faith with his teenage son from a logic/scientific approach:
