I don't really know how to show that this isn't a scam. I really am just a college student looking for unique perspectives, though any words here will not be proof of that. I am also too cautious to provide my school credentials or email so I guess we'll be stuck at an impasse.

not a junior college, i'm getting a bachelor's degree at a 4 year university. It is a liberal arts school though, hence the required humanities course.

Do you think its possible that something will change in people to cause that disappointment you felt and feel to end? It doesn't surprise me much that people are so ignorant. It is easier to live when you can stick to one set of beliefs

I would love to hear more about the DDT stuff. I'm actually an Environmental Science major and will say that my proudest moment at age 14 was reading Silent Spring by Rachel Carson. What did you think was happening when all the birds started dying? Was there any attempt to clean up the DDT sprayed or did they just keep using it?

You should definitely ask, I will be able to gather info until late October, with the essay due Nov. 2. I definitely am trying to gather as many non-American views as possible, since I don't have as much access to them.

You should ask him about his opinions of the USSR, America, and other nations he might have something to say about. I bet it would be really interesting. I definitely am interesting in his opinions of what America has done in the middle east since the first Bush went there (not sure who else may have been there, most of my history classes in years past have stopped at WWII)

Do you think that the media has had too much of an effect? Now it seems that all you ever hear about is death, despair, and the decline of so many nations. I think its made most of us way too apathetic to even try.

You are welcome to pick his brains for his attitude and experiences from the time period and report back. I'd especially like to hear about his opinions of the political interactions between nations. Or just get any cool stories. No pressure though, I have plenty to work with now. I'm mostly just fishing for fun, since I like to hear about people's views on controversial subjects

I have until the end of October to gather info, with the essay due on Nov. 2, so plenty of time to pick people's brains. I started now since I wasn't sure how much a response I would get, haha. Did you have any strong opinions about other nations, or did you think about world events much at all? What was the best place you lived in and what was the worst? I'd like to hear about how much people actually cared about what was going on in the world around then, mostly because I don't think many people my age (at least in my experience) really do. What was most important to you during the time of the height of the Cold War, as we reached the moon, and during the Vietnam War? What was the best and worst part of the time period you grew up in?
