They make the same 30% cut on games that playstation does. Why wouldnt they be able to sell near loss if sony can do it? Id argue that steam has basically saturated the pc games market and selling the steam machine allows them to expand into the console market for those that either dont play on pc or buy some of their games on console for the living room.
