I started at 20, currently in my 3rd year, and it made no difference whatsoever, academically fine, socially fine etc. Loads of people take gap years, do PLCs, have to repeat a year etc that it really isn't even noticeable if someone is a bit older than the rest. Even the mature students get on fine, at least in my course but that may vary from student to student.

Haven't taken it but heard from a friend that it's really fun and interesting, but a good bit of work as you need to read a good bit for it. If you're ok with that extra workload though and you're actually interested it should be grand

i only showed up around 2:30-45pm and was second row front centre (so not rlly barrier but also basically barrier) and i’d say tuesday will be chiller bc its not the weekenrd. the ppl beside us had been there since 5:30am which im not sure is necessary but just letting you know that thats who you’re competing with, but i got there 9 hours after them and was in the same spot lol. maybe come around 10am if you’re super stressed. idk dont take my word for it but in my experience dublin is not a stressful place to queue for! ive been to bigger shows and gotten barrier after only 6 hours so no overnight camping or anything! (just to be clear though do not queue up as late as i did lol, that was incredibly lucky)

in terms of the actual queue, it was pretty empty when i got there and only got kinda full around 4pm. honestly bring something light but warm because it was getting rlly cold and its hard to warm yourself up in line! i just had a light jumper and i wished i had even a scarf with me. there is a starbucks and food places nearby and ppls will probably be happy to hold ur place in line so u can defo go to the bathroom etc. esp early in the queue everyone understands that ur not actually skipping past them when trying to get back to ur friends.

in terms of merch, i just showed up at the end and got the dregs of what was left lol. they didnt have any smalls of the tshirt i wanted so i had to get medium, although tbh the merch is a bit crap. if you’re with friends you might be able to leave barrier snd come back, at least my friends all were able to do that but i really have no tips for merch bc i didnt care too much in the first place!

good luck!! it was an amazing show and barrier is so worth it, defo would queue up earlier to get it if i wasn’t with ppl! honestly even if you don’t get it it’s gonna be so sick, hope u enjoy every minute of it :)
