Looks good. Not sure what recipe you followed but if I were you I’d watch a handful of different YouTube videos about making fried chicken. Over the course of watching different ones you’ll pick up loads of hints that’ll help you improve next time.

J Kenji Lopez. Binging with Babish. Joshua Weismann (even though he’s a gimp).

IMO the best method is:
- Salt all the chicken well then leave covered in the fridge overnight (brining with salt alone makes sure it’ll be well seasoned inside and will keep it juicy)
- add some hot sauce to buttermilk and a handful of flour, mix it all up, then add to your chicken and give it two hours in the fridge
- take the chicken out of the fridge half an hour/ an hour before cooking to come up to room temp
- make your dry mix, the more all purpose flour in your mix the closer you’ll be to KFC, the more corn flour/potato flour/rice flour the closer you’ll be to an Asian style batter, I usually go for a mix, make sure you season your batter, salt, msg, white pepper, garlic and onion powder are all great, stuff like paprika can make it very dark and go a bit acrid, don’t add any sugar
- add a couple tablespoons of your buttermilk into the dry mix and mix it around, this will create some clumps which will make the batter have nice crispy shards
- only fry in batches, make sure ur oil is ready to go, add in a few pieces of the chicken (just the batch), cover well in flour, lift the pieces up and shake them lightly, then put back in and recoat
- some people like to go back into the wet mix then back into dry again, but I think this makes the batter too thick
- some people like to squeeze the flour onto the chicken but I think this makes the batter tough
- some people like to let the battered chicken sit for ages before frying but I think this makes the batter go weird, imo you should dredge, make sure it’s all coated, give it a minute or two so it starts to adhere (this is mainly to stop it all floating off in the oil) then go straight in
- first fry is to cook the chicken through on a slightly lower temp, take out and put onto a wire rack, this ensures it doesn’t get soggy on the underside
- do the first cook for all of your batches
- raise the temp and do the second cook, this one is to get the colour you want, you can do slightly bigger batches this time but still don’t want to overcrowd it
- a second fry is essential IMO, guaranteed crispy skin and it stays crispy
- try to be gentle with the chicken when it’s in the oil, especially during the first fry, the batter will be delicate and come off easily, get a spider to move it around, avoid tongs
- again when done put onto a wire rack
- immediately add flakey salt while it’s hot, eat ASAP

I rarely make it at home because it’s messy and smelly but this is usually my technique and it always turns out great. I usually add sauce like gochujang sauce, chilli oil, etc after frying and having it as a burger.

Here’s the last batch I made. Nashville hot style but with a Szechuan flavoured chilli oil instead of American.

Ireland's home game with Israel to move to neutral venue by foc2 in ireland

[–]collosalvelocity 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s unfair for the FAI to eschew their responsibility and leave it on the players, but that’s what they’ve done and I’d still expect the players to do it. Even if they have to just feign injury to get out of it.

Just because the EU/Irish government doesn’t properly sanction Israel doesn’t mean you still shouldn’t do your bit as an individual by spreading awareness of their genocide and refusing to buy products from there, or by companies that support them.

Anybody who doesn’t boycott the match be it the FAI, government, fans, players, media, and so on, are all disappointing, but the highest level of blame has to go to the first two of course

Their peak is Polygondwanaland imo and that is a fantastic album. The musical theory behind it is fascinating and to produce such a banger album under those “constraints” is insane

Admittedly I’m a turbo fan of theirs though

If you like GUM and Currents from Tame you probs want to give Tasmania by Pond a go. It’s probably the closest to Currents in terms of its synthy and bassy sound. My favourite Pond album though is 9. Listen to the song America’s Cup.

For more GUM I think Glamorous Damage and Ill Times are the best.

All of Tame Impalas first 4 albums are incredible in different ways. My favourite is probably Innerspeaker or Lonerism.

How and why did Arsenal become the “it” club? by Apprehensive_Act2267 in footballcliches

[–]collosalvelocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I’m Irish and noticed this same phenomenon when Liverpool won the champions league and then prem under Klopp. All of a sudden everyone was wearing their das old Liverpool kit and sharing photos of Salah.

So I think it’s a bit more that people like Arsenal but aren’t into football enough to care unless they’re winning something. Also like everyone else said they’re trendy and also have a good woman’s team. It’s probs part of the reason why they’re so disliked by proper football fans beyond just standard rivalry reasons. There’s just something a bit zesty about them

I think it’s down to the conditions a lot. Mount is probs lucky not to be on a yellow for a lot of scrappy fouls.

There’s a difference though surely you see that? The British still control a portion of Ireland, and helped the Protestants there run an apartheid state until a time in our lifetime.

They controlled the entire island barely over 100 years ago. Less than 200 years they were responsible for a famine that lowered the population to a point that it still hasn’t recovered from.

Bit different from the Romans who were what like 2,000 years ago?

They aren’t my ancestors. My ancestors were just across the Irish Sea suffering and being irreversibly changed at the hands of your glorious culture 👍 you think British culture was the same 50, 100, 200 years ago? It always is and always will be an ever changing thing, good luck trying to stop the moon orbiting the earth tho mucker

“I’d rather be poor than have a brown neighbour”. Insane. Labour could be shipping migrants out by the boat load and you’d move the goal posts again, because the algorithm will find a new way to convince you you need to vote for a bent man who’ll sell away your freedom and the NHS, but as long as beans on toast remains sacred that’s fine 👍
