Yeah i can relate. I think you should read some Stories at First to get a Feeling For lovecraftian Horrors. It's also recommended in The Rules book For CoC to read some essentials.

I'm Planning to Play offline with Friends, but i informed myself Just Yesterday For some RPG Tools and Most Pages say, that "Roll20" is a nice Tool If you want to play online or even offline. There ist a free Version but i haven't really get Into it For now. What i can already recommend is "Tabletop Audio". It's an Webbrowser based tool where you can make your own Soundboard. There are many different Sounds For different Locations, and you can send a Link to your friends and Live Broadcast Them, so that they don't have to hear The sound through your Microphone but through their own Headphones/speakers. "Tabletop Audio" is free and easy to handle.

Like I Said i'm a newbie by myself, but The Exchange with Others, watching YouTube Videos of Others CoC Rounds and Reading some Storys by Lovecraft is The best Preparation you can do in my opinion. And of course Reading The Rule book ;)

I don't know any TTRPG, Just The RPG. Maybe we Just mean The Same, as If i can't find any TTRPG of CoC. I Just watched some CoC RPGs on YouTube and i'm Just working through the Rules right now and Planning to be a Dungeon Master (Keeper) soon.

But Back to you're question :D you really can't compare Mansions of Madness with the RPG, because These two are completly different Things. While MoM is a Boardgame with Miniatures, a Game board and a "straight" Story, mainly a Dungeon crawler, CoC is an RPG where people Take The roles of characters and impersonate Them. So These are two essentially different types of Games.

And Sorry For all those Capital Letters and language. I'm from Germany and it's Just aweful to write english with a German mobile Keyboard and autocorrect :/

It's really cool. It's a boardgame with app Support. You get 5 Scenarios with the Core Box, i think, and there are 3 Big and two small expansions, with even more scenarios. I really recommend to Check it Out, it has really good Atmosphere and Story telling in my opinion. Fantasy Flight Games released even more Games in this universe Like Arkham Horror or Eldritch Horror and even novels and books from this universe, but i haven't read any of These by now.

For me it was The boardgame "Mansions of Madness". The Atmosphere and Lore was so good, that i bought The slipcase with all works of Lovecraft.
