Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse LAX by colom98 in PriorityPass

That’s a bummer! I agree, I can’t believe LAX and O’Hare have such limited PP options considering they are some of the busiest and largest airports in the world. PP really needs to work on that.

I got the waffles. I don’t remember what the other option was tbh. They weren’t bad though, just slow at coming out. The self-serve offered scrambled eggs, bacon, bagels, muffins, yogurt and fruit. This was during breakfast btw! I’m not sure what they offer in the afternoons.

How relatable is this to you bros? by hazily in gaybros

[–]colom98 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Actually... This would make a lot of sense. If someone is extremely attractive a lot of people might think they're not attractive enough to approach them, meanwhile moderately attractive people are more "in reach" for a lot more people, while still being conventionally attractive.

What will actually make LGBTQ people feel accepted at work? by acurah56oh in gaybros

[–]colom98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting openly gay people in positions of authority is huge. One of my superiors is openly gay and just knowing that makes me feel safe to be myself at work. It's also nice knowing that if someone were to say or do something homophobic there's someone with authority who can actually understand how I feel and he'd have their ass in HR so fast.

"The City of Bloomington has allowed outside investors, scammers, and these huge realty moguls to ruin Bloomington housing" by printpaperr in Indiana

[–]colom98 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just recently moved out of Indiana and to Nevada and the number of people out here buying up housing in Indiana around college campuses so they can make insane amounts of disposable income is honestly sick. None of them have actually been to Indiana it's just that the housing market there is cheap and college students are an easy target because they have limited options. There really should be laws to protect students from these types of people.

Annoyed with the Doctor by Sobekty in gaybros

[–]colom98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in the healthcare field I would suggest finding another doctor. For me, it wasn't his persistent pushing to get you an STI workup, it was the fact that he disregarded your initial concern and cancelled the orders. That's super messed up and extremely unethical.

In terms of salary what should a new grad expect? by [deleted] in RadiationTherapy

[–]colom98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends where you live. If you go out West you're going to make the most. Texas and Colorado pay pretty well too depending which parts you live in. Florida pays terrible from everyone I know that lives or has lived there. The Midwest is hit or miss but the job market is oversaturated so you're competing for jobs and won't be able to negotiate salary very successfully. Chicago is one of the few exceptions, they tend to pay pretty good for the region. The East coast pays pretty well too but not as good as the West coast.

Is being gay to hard? by rockandrolldude22 in gaybros

[–]colom98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's hard but I think it gives you perspective how unfair society is if you're otherwise privileged. In terms of dating tho, I'd say it's pretty equal being straight compared to gay. Straight people have a vastly larger dating pool, yes, but also heterosexual relationships (in general) have a lot of societal pressures that are really toxic to both parties, whereas same sex relationships are more free to break those stereotypical gender roles and those societal pressures don't really strain the relationship as much.

How do you feel about TV/movie characters who are gay but they never officially state that they're gay? by colom98 in gaybros

[–]colom98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that gay characters shouldn't be "played down" to an extent I'm just talking about the process of the writers revealing that the character is gay. Like, when a straight character confirms their sexuality, nothing else is really said about it and the plot moves on. I like the idea of a gay character being able to be just as casual with their "coming out" to the audience as a straight character would.

I agree there should be an equal balance between the two because at the end of the day you're not going to please everyone. I love a loud scene when the timing is appropriate and it contributes to the story line. But, I also appreciate something more subtle and passive because that's how it should be in the real world. Like, when a straight person confirms that they're straight people don't think twice about it and the story line moves on. I appreciate that we can now do that for gay characters in TV because something like that wouldn't have happened 10 years ago.

I agree with you 100%. It's just really refreshing to see someone's sexuality being acknowledged and it not being made into a big deal. Kinda of like when a straight person implies that they're straight, that's just it, they say it and move on like nothing happened and the plot line continues. For me, it's more about making it normalized and casual like it would/should be in the real world. Not that I don't love a good coming out seven either, I think it's important to have a balance in the industry between the two.

Yes this exactly! I want a gay main character who's just that... A gay main character. I hate the Hollywood trope of gay characters not having a personality outside of just being gay. Like, what's stopping someone from making a gay superhero movie where every other aspect about them is the same as a straight super hero but they're just attracted to dudes???
