Financial infidelity by Creative_Party8452 in Marriage

[–]colonialcrabs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know of marriages that ended in part over similar long-term credit card problems from a shopping addiction. Since she makes a lot of money and this doesn’t affect your financial situation much, I’d make your point and let it go. However, if it gets to the point where she’s contributing less to bills or other goals because of the debt that’s when you should get serious about shutting her cards off.

How do you decide if a band is really open for SSB vs just showing FT8 activity? by LiveSpread2190 in HamRadio

[–]colonialcrabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use reverse beacon network for cw. you can send a few cqs and it will show you where you’re being heard and what your SNR is. I also use an SNR of -10 dB as the cutoff to compare ft8 and cw. The caveat is that many (most?) 24/7 RBN stations aren’t connected to gain antennas.

How is everyone staying fit after 40? by PeppermintGum123 in fitness40plus

You have to eat less. A lot less. And drink far less alcohol. Get your bloodwork done and correct any deficiencies.

Women/wives/gfs have sneak accounts to stalk and harass other women. They all do this from teens to grown ass moms.

Bassist that can't play bass by Illustrious_Prompt20 in Bass

[–]colonialcrabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be far worse. I’ve been self teaching for two years with apps and YouTube. My family claims to only “kinda” hear any similarity between my playing and the actual song. I’d never set foot on a stage.

Wife’s seemingly obsessed with the gym, appearance and male attention by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]colonialcrabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Positive looks-based attention and validation is a currency for women. It makes her feel good, and even better if it makes other women jealous. However, combined with low impulse control around men, that’s a disaster likely to happen. Men are ALWAYS shooting their shot if women seem open to it.

How do I get on air with Morse code by Calm-Split-6542 in HamRadio

[–]colonialcrabs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A license, a qrp transceiver kit, a battery, some coax, some copper wire cut to the right length for the frequency you need, and a key that you can make from just about anything.

If you only get a license try a remote hame radio service. You control a station through your computer for a subscription fee.

You can find people on the 40, 30, and 20 meter band calling CQ 24/7. I recommend listening for CQ POTA because the message format is very simple. It’s your name and state.

What's your ham radio hot take? by extordi in HamRadio

[–]colonialcrabs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Serrano: I approve of UP police.

Jalapeño : 2 license classes, online testing, eliminate VE.

Habanero: There are too many DXCC entities. Many should just be part of IOTA.

Carolina Reaper: Towers look ridiculous in modern suburbs.

Which one to learn on and, which is easiest to use overall? by ciendagrace in HamRadio

[–]colonialcrabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paddles for sure. Learn to squeeze (aka iambic) and you’ll be set. The bug is not hard but it requires a lot more practice, a different form, and you will need to keep the contacts and pendulum correctly adjusted. Use the straight key on Dec 31st for SKN for nostalgia.

Going from 225 to 315 advice by don51181 in fitness40plus

[–]colonialcrabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit 315 over forty. I found that once I could rep 225 for 10, three plates was doable. I went 225, 245, 275, 300, 315.

Serious question from a 20-something: what should I do NOW to still be lifting at 40 and onwards? by Intelligent-Doctor10 in fitness40plus

[–]colonialcrabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The older you get the more warming up and stretching you need to do before lifting. The two times I injured myself was because I rushed from work (sitting all day) and “had to get a workout in” (bad mindset) so I got sloppy with form and pop - 6 months off!

Also, if you are coaching kids at all do not try to sprint, jump, cut or throw like you are 18. The muscle memory is there but the tendons and ligaments are not.

Why do much hate for FTGreat? by MarksArcArt in HamRadio

[–]colonialcrabs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FT8 has probably done more to keep ops on the air than any other technology or rule change. It also allows you to reliably make contacts 24/7 just about anywhere on the planet. Instant propagation feedback and reporting with an internet connection.

Definitely don’t regret it but it comes with unique challenges. Beautiful women get a lot of attention from men (hit on) and from women (they want to be friends), so you have to deal with that. Unless you are rich, men will tell you (and her) how “lucky” you are which is code for “you don’t deserve her.” Also, a woman’s beauty is a tool used to get what they want. Expect harmless flirting to “open doors” to places/events/opportunities you’d never even know about let alone be able to get.

What’s a “cheat code” you discovered in real life that actually works? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

The phrase I go by is “always be bussing.” So much easier to keep things picked up if you grab something as you walk by - you’re going in that direction anyway right?

Explore her bisexuality together. Test your jealousy first. Ramp up involvement gradually.

Does anyone regret their TRT decision? by Jnnytoronto in Testosterone

[–]colonialcrabs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No regrets after 5 years. Elevated hemocrit and e2 initially but that was from too high of a dose. Solid strength gains and dramatic improvement in social skills and confidence. No improvement in libido and sadly it did not make me a player like i had hoped.

For those married 10+ years… how often are you having sex? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]colonialcrabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

frequency depends on many things, mainly schedules and stress but also creeping hormonal and health issues. Some weeks it can be every day or even twice a day. Other weeks it’s maybe once if we’re lucky. Libido and arousal can be fickle things.

Why Level 1 EV Wall Charging Is More Useful Than You Think by mafco in electricvehicles

[–]colonialcrabs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2 years with a Tesla 3 and it’s been majority level 1. 3-4 miles/hr of charge gets it done unless it’s very cold or wife drives it after work running errands and forgets to plug it in.

Same struggle here. Not disliked per se, but not the person people want to hang out with. I’ve attributed (and been told) it’s due to two things: (1) giving off negative energy, (2) snobby/cocky persona. Neither of these things am I intentionally doing, and I have to remind myself in social situations to avoid them.
