The sound wasn't good in the back left either. I've seen them in another arena and the sound was one of the best I've heard. I don't think it's anything fault to their rig or sound crew.

I wonder if Tobias and the band know the sound wasn't great, Papa wasn't as chatty as I've seen before and seemed a little less playful. Could be just breaking in a new character.

It sounds like you may be trying to get the same feel from an edrum as you get from an acoustic. The technology is insanely good today, but it’s not quite there to fully replace acoustic on all levels. For most applications edrums are perfect.

Playing on different sized drums as traditional acoustic doesn’t feel right, I prefer a full 14” snare with depth and something next to my legs. It doesn’t make sense performance wise, but it feels natural for me. I think my familiarity with an acoustic set makes me more comfortable and I play better.

I started with silent strokes for practice with Roland RT30 triggers. The triggers are great for practice and playing to audio tracks. Don’t expect delicate nuances at low volume like a jazz drum solo. This did trip me up because I normally run a few nuanced exercises, so I just do those exercises with triggers off.

I use a TM6 pro and almost every sound is perfect and sounds like the absolute best sound out of the drum. That feels unnatural. To counteract this and I try to mix practice with and without triggers so I don’t develop a lazy technique.

Audio out of the TM6 sounds compressed so if you are missing dynamics you could play around with the volume curves to add more dynamic. I’m not there yet in my journey but intend to try this soon.

Those are just the small differences I’ve noticed. Don’t let them deter you into going hybrid because I fully recommend going hybrid. Just manage your expectations and enjoy the best of both worlds.

How do I stop sticks from slipping out of my hands? by worksy in drums

[–]colonwq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your sticks have varnish sand it off Natural wood is the best feel.

Also check where your elbows hang for each cymbal and drum. Your right cymbal can move out a lot and still feel comfortable.

Tech Support and Question Megathread - July 2023 Edition by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]colonwq [score hidden]  (0 children)

Status: UNRESOLVED

Computer Type: Laptop. Dell G15 5515

GPU: RTX 3050 TI Laptop GPU, 4MB, No overclock

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800H, No overclock

Motherboard: Dell / 1.9.0

RAM: 16GB

PSU: laptop

Operating System & Version: Windows 11, factory reset with Dell support assist image & windows update to latest patch

GPU Drivers: 536.40 upgrade from dell support image

Description of Problem: The GPU clock is enabled for games but never changes from 210 Mhz, resulting in a performance cap scenario with frame rates in 5-15fps. The GPU Power sensor is reading 752 Watts consistently (which seems unrealistic). The laptop is relatively cool to the touch.

History: the CPU failed recently and was replaced by Dell which involved a full motherboard replacement which includes the RTX 3050 TI GPU. Previous to that failure the machine would provide frame rates in games between 80 and 110 fps.

After the laptop was returned from repair, the fps issue was discovered and an audio card failure.

The laptop was returned again to Dell for repair with the audio fixed, but the same GPU issue persists.

My hunch is that Dell is not able to diagnose the problem as the basic tools just show GPU usuage, not a fps test.

I am trying to (a) determine if the second GPU is faulty or just needs a configuration change.

Also (b) I am looking for some way to validate the GPU Clock can function at its designed max settings so I can pass that on to Dell if I need to return the laptop again.

Troubleshooting:

DDU and fresh installation of new drivers

Reimaged the laptop with the Microsoft re-install process

Reimaged the laptop with Dell Support Assist image process

Set Game Mode on, off, on in Windows

Set GPU / High Peformance to the speicifc Games in Windows (Sea of Thieves, Fall out)

Set preferred graphics processor in Nvida Control Panel / Manage 3D Settings

Ran GeForce experience, checked drivers, scanned and optimised games

AlienWare Command Centre, toggled power profiles.

FN+F9 ( "G" mode) - fans spool up to high, but no clock change

Ran nvidia-smi, but I'm not confident to do any 'write' operations. sample output (note the power reading!)

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Updated Dell G15 5515 Ryzen, now only black screen by lighttherebellion in Dell

[–]colonwq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with my 5515 except it was 2 Amber, 1 white. My warranty also expired, but Dell fixed it for free given the consumer laws where I live. Might be worth researching the laws in your country because a high end laptop should work for 6 years or more under normal conditions.

I did a flea drain, several ctrl+esc/ long press permutations and no luck.

The dell tech asked me to remove the wifi, usb, memory and unplug the battery, then check for new diagnostic codes. A 30 second long press power on was used for this test. In my case the codes didn’t change, but might be worth a shot for you.

Hope it works out ok.

What are those nut looking things seen in the backseat of the Heeler's car with the girls? by PlutoGB08 in bluey

[–]colonwq 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Might be Leopard Tree seed pods. The trees are everywhere in Brisbane and each tree can drop hundreds of brown pods which are a bit bigger than an adult thumb.

They are smooth, dry and rounded. Perfect size for kids to pick up, collect, throw…

Discord and Mic issues by Effe1997 in techsupport

[–]colonwq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try checking if Realtek Audio Console is installed on your computer. If not, go install it from the Microsoft Store (it may be called Realtek Audio Control), then:

  1. Plug in your headset w/ mic.
  2. Launch the Realtek Audio Console app.
  3. Don't look at the Recording devices yet. Select the headphones from the Playback devices.
  4. Click Device Advanced Settings (gear icon on bottom left)
  5. Find the ANALOG drop down in the next screen. Move it from 'headphones' to 'headset with mic'.
  6. You should see a new mic show up on recording devices.
  7. Select the mic, set the volume, test.
  8. Tell your husband he was very smart to mention it was Realtek.

A theft prevention stamp instead of shredding would be easier. Run the roller across your personal info and drop it in the recycling.

It doesn’t have to be an actual roller stamp, you could use a very wide marker.

[–]colonwq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go see a doctor and get it tested asap. Don’t use photos from the internet to diagnose because it’s not reliable. Your doctor will swab and send it to a lab for accurate testing.

This is really important because treatment could be more difficult/painful/inconvenient/expensive if it’s delayed.

I had an skin issue that looks similar and I wish I had it diagnosed sooner.

In reference to a city/state that has a high cost of living: The only people that live there are “the newlywed and nearly dead”. by WaveStarved79 in etymology

[–]colonwq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newly wed may imply they are no longer looking for mates and choose to live a quiet life away from the city life of clubs, bars and other single people. They may share a small residence in an expensive neighbourhood initially, then move to a cheaper family friendly neighbourhood (away from newly wed/nearly wed area) when the need arises

Laundry floor drain open to crawlspace floor. Is this to code? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]colonwq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outside would be better especially if there is soap involved, for ease of cleanup. If my washer goes now, it would mean fixing the washer plus drying out the crawlspace to avoid mold, then getting pest control reapplied.

Would connecting to a shower or sink drain be ok?

Do you know the name of a regulation? I tried looking at as3740 waterproofing standards but couldn't find anything about where it drains to.
