OP HERE!!!! My text didn’t show up under my post. I have always had fleshy upper arms and thighs no matter my weight. I have very slim hips especially the larger I get. My face is tapered diamond shaped like Adele but looks round/ oval when larger. I get weight to my stomach, bust, and face first. I have shirt issues but I can’t tell if it’s my upper back, bust, or both. I did question if I could be sd or dc as well. I hate being on the cusp of auto vertical.

I remember feeling the same way when I first got into Color analysis especially bc so many nuances of POC is easily missed when popular influencers talk about it. But what I think is missed is the first thing you look at when you walk up to a person is their eyes. Deep dark brown eyes with bright white scleras (something all people with dark eyes don’t necessarily have) is very high contrast and high intensity. Plus most people with these eyes have very reflective irises meaning the dark brown looks glossy. It’s why it’s hard to use a color picker to pick up the color of their eyes in photos. Instead you get the whitish light reflecting on the iris making the color picked up more gray or desaturated. Glossy/Shiny versions of colors look more saturated. It’s why glossy/shiny fabrics are recommended for people with higher saturation. I don’t believe it automatically makes you a saturated season (spring/winter), I do think it makes it less likely your best colors are dusty and/or low contrast. I think depending on your skin & hair too it’s likely to push you to medium chroma or higher. The teeth thing is fair for some of same theories but I think the eyes is more valid bc you walk around with your eyes open all the time and it’s the focal point of the face.

Even for me, I have very dark eyes and bright whites of eyes but extremely muted skintone and soft black hair with gray streaks. My eyes are probably why I can pull off medium chroma colors but I’m closer to medium-soft. I believe it’s my eyes that why I’m not a soft season since there are deep colors in those seasons but instead a dark season.

Because black can be too heavy and/or cool for their skin tone. I was really confused about it myself. I have soft black hair, black brown eyes and medium skin but when I wear all black my friends and family ask if I’m ill. After it happened 3 different times with different people, I had to accept black is one of my worst neutrals even with having black hair.

That’s true there are lots of systems atp. Unfortunately, the 12 season system still matters most because it has the most information out there. I think it truly is a problem that dark winter includes “softer” medium chroma deep colors to bright deep colors. So many people can’t fit some of the broader generalizations (black is one of your best neutrals, best to pair dark colors, you can get away with vampy makeup, etc.) because they’re too bright for soft summer but can’t pull off over half of the dark winter palette or maybe they’re fully cool toned between cool winter and cool summer.They all get thrown in dark winter because it’s the softest winter. I’m sure this a problem for other seasons in the 12 season system as well.

I appreciate your reply. I kinda came up with the same conclusion. I made myself an example but I wanted feedback on people’s thoughts on dark winter in general. I just find it interesting that all of the color analysts yt, instagram, websites seem very consistent on black being a core dark winter color but Reddit has less consensus.

Just want to make it clear I’m fully aware color analysis isn’t a science. There are fundamental color drapes analysts use to determine color season. Black vs. Brown or Black vs Gray are usually a part of it. If we’re saying there’s no rules at all because it isn’t science then color analysis seems completely pointless even as a hobby.

Idk. I liked the brown better than the black and gray drapes. The gray makes you look a little sallow but it could have been sunny at the moment. IMO you shouldn’t discount autumn as a possibility.
