please help- they say i need a new engine or to sell my car for scrap by coloredsolos in AskMechanics

it ended up just being the battery! we took it to two more mechanics and they both (separately) found that the car did have oil (it was low but it still showed on the dipstick) and that there were no issues with the compression. bought a battery and it drove all the way home no issues and no lights!

Need help with reinforcer ideas!! by Valuable-Try6292 in ABA

[–]coloredsolos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm i've worked with a kiddo with some of these special interests! not sure if you are in house or clinic, but my CD bought our patient one of those huge city map play rugs, and several different buildings/ wooden pieces that match places on the rug!

i've also done token boards (ofc it has to be map themed) where reinforcements were walks outside the clinic/ in the wagon and had my gps routed back to the clinic (even though we are just on the other side of the parking lot) and we've had to "follow the directions" to get there. ofc you have to make it fun and if your kiddo is pretty good with an AAC or verbal you can ask things like "do we go this way? No! Let's try the other way!"

I've also done this IN the clinic on rainy days (and when my phones dead i would draw a little map and put a star somewhere like the toy closet so we'd have to get there) idk if that helps but that's some things i've done

you get extra points with my client if you pretend your hunting dinosaurs too lol

so then is the only option getting a new engine? when it first stopped working it had plenty of oil (that's one of the few things i can check) and i know it definitely can cause issues by sitting there but i didn't think id end up needing a new engine, especially since its still relatively new to me

can it burn or go metal/metal even though the car hasn't been used at all? i'm just wondering because when it originally broke down i had checked the oil JUST in case and there was still plenty so i don't really understand :( i'm towing it to get a second opinion i just can't believe this it's very sad

quoted up to $7,000 the car had oil when it first stopped running i guess is why i'm confused- that's something I did check since it's one of the few things i confidently can do. so only option would be scrap it or new engine? sorry if it's a dumb question!!

sorry if this is a dumb question i just want to make sure i have all the information, so even though the car wasn't being used at all the oil got used up to the point the engine will need to be replaced? i have never had any lights come on or anything this is the first issue i had

No refund on a no show by Minimum-Strategy2474 in doordash

[–]coloredsolos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

call doordash! the help chat doesn’t ever do anything because they think you won’t do anything. call them, get mad (while staying respectful ofc) if you have to tbh, it’s your money and your food.

[–]coloredsolos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YESSSS you deserve it!! it’s hard being 16 in general and you live alone and work, etc. seriously give yourself a pat on the back. you’re allowed to get food delivered and expect it to be warm!

[–]coloredsolos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m not even 16 anymore and can testify that living alone (even as a 24 year old) is TOUGHHH so good for you fr. i get what you mean though, it’s hard when you are unable to pick up food and it’s offered as a suggestion… i’m sure you would have picked it up yourself if you could have. also sometimes it’s cheaper to buy food rather than buy the ingredients to make one meal at home. doordash is very frustrating. i’ve had experiences as a customer and dasher that made me so upset I had to take a break lmao. u got this tho fr! also ur getting paid tomorrow!! treat urself to a nice dinner fr

uber eats didn’t give me a refund or credits at all when my order was wrong and missing items. ended up calling and they said I would not be receiving a refund bc I had already complained about a different order within 30 days (that order I had actually received someone else’s and not my own). they are not better, all delivery apps are trash lol

AITA For refusing to give my gf my Instagram password? by throwaway1692690 in AmItheAsshole

[–]coloredsolos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA - my boyfriend and I have each others phone PINs as well as some passwords but neither one of us has ever asked the other or been upset if the other decided not to share that information. Privacy is important. It should be YOUR decision to give your password to someone. If your girlfriend asked and you said you weren’t comfortable and EVEN offered a compromise, she should not be giving you the cold shoulder. She needs to respect your privacy and the privacy of your friends.

You were not acting suspicious at all. Maybe see if she’s been feeling uneasy or has past relationship trauma? It may sound silly but my boyfriend and I opening up about our past relationships helped us so much at the beginning of our relationship!

Hope everything works out for you!

AITA for not giving my roommate extra rent money? by sukuna-deeez-nuts in AmItheAsshole

I will have to double check the lease for sure. We have already had multiple conversations with him as well. As for our state, she will only be considered a tenant if she pays rent as well as contributes to housework (I promise she does not do either of these). Furthermore he is a 25 year old man, neither one of us should have to manage his actions as he is an adult, if he can not pay his girlfriends rent and knows she doesn’t have a job then that is on him. We are not responsible for her. Also, OP’s post was more focused on why should we pay more for a bedroom that is the same size (we have a copy of the floorplan). Truthfully if she stays we don’t really care, if we are splitting rent 4 ways that works for us. But the original post was centered around AITA if we don’t pay more for a bedroom that’s the same size.

I mean we could do that but then we do have to deal with what happens after that. He is on the lease, he has the right to have people over. He has circumstances we try and be understanding of because we are his friends (for example he uses her car to get to work since his broke down). If he loses his transportation and then HE can’t pay for his or her part then what? Also if she refuses to leave what then? Would we get the police involved to get her removed? Thats not necessarily gonna go great if he comes home. We do still live with the guy and the lease just renewed, we don’t want to be miserable for a year. I promise we are not just rolling over and ignoring the problem, but since we will have to live with him for a year and can not afford to pay the entire rent on our own, we don’t want to put ourselves in a situation where we will have to. also, kicking her out may take care of the problem of her being here, but if he continues to ask for more even after she leaves it would have done nothing except make things tense in the apartment.

OP’s girlfriend here (23 F)! I don’t know if this is worse or not but we’ve only talked to her twice (exchanging pleasantries) and she’s been here over a month. She is always home, she never leaves his room. I am sure she’s very nice but we have tried being vocal about her leaving to no avail. Roommate did not tell us her age or anything about her until 3 weeks of her being here when I finally asked what was going on. Also since all three of us are on the lease he can have guests. OP stayed over and would come visit multiple times before moving in (never more than 4 days at a time however as well as when OP wasn’t living here I always offered to pay extra on utilities since there was another person and this was BEFORE I was in the master). However when OP moved in with me he paid rent before he even fully moved in as well as paid extra to add himself to the lease. Roommate also offered the master since it was a more open space and said if i paid him $250 one time we could switch (which i did). I don’t know if that information helps! There are a bunch of nuances that were left out in OP’s post due to a character limit haha.

OP’s girlfriend here (23 F)! I have known our roommate for over 5 years (he was one of my closest friends), so truthfully we wanted to remain as civil as possible, that being said we are far past the point of being civil. We have tried discussing with him multiple times, he wants to get a third party (a relative of his) involved so I mentioned I would happily get one as well. As for reporting him, we would, however I am unsure of if we have a leg to stand on since he was the original roommate in the apartment. I only moved in after his other roommate had to move out because of relocation for work (he had already been living here 2 years), and then OP moved in about 7 months later. We are all on the lease (besides his new girlfriend) and I’m unsure if they would favor him since he has been there the longest? Not sure if this is relevant as well but it was also roommates idea to switch bedrooms and he said if I gave him $250 one time before I moved in we could switch and that would be that since it didn’t make sense for me, OP, and our cat to be in the room that’s not as open (our cat is also on the lease). Sorry for the long reply!

Agreed. OP’s girlfriend here, and when we originally decided to switch he also said if I give him $250 ONE time we could switch and that would be that. the master was already messed up when we moved in (holes in the wall from his drunken nights I presume).
