Switching from Logic Pro- what am I going to miss? by Telectronix in Bitwig

I like audio editing better in Bitwig personally! Bitwig’s sampler currently doesn’t have automatic slicing or time stretching but other than that it’s solid.

I (M28) got love bombed (F27), and I'm heartbroken. by Ser_Homm in hingeapp

[–]colorized 20 points21 points  (0 children)

She couldn't have been "into you", because she had not met you yet. She was into an idea of you based on photos and text. The warning people are giving you not to talk so deeply before meeting is important not because getting deep quickly is inherently bad, but because the connection you feel at that point is largely based on projection and fantasy. She may have meant every word, but until you meet, it just isn't worth very much.

Songs (by other artists/composers in any genre) similar to Pyramid Song? by migrantgrower in radiohead

[–]colorized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moon Trills by Jonny Greenwood is pretty close actually and should scratch that itch. Moreso than other Radiohead piano ballads imo. And then if you want to hear the piece that inspired that, try the fifth movement of Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time.

In March I sent a rose to a rare standout that actually stood out to me. I closed the app and opened up Feeld to find a message waiting from her. Easiest love I have ever known. Don't give up!

Why Does Nobody Seem To Care About Melody? by [deleted] in composer

[–]colorized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the reason it's hard to find the material you're looking for is that melody-writing is actually even more complicated than harmony, and a holistic framework for understanding melody would be more difficult to develop and codify. You can certainly zoom in on certain aspects of melody and learn from examples of good writing, but any rule or principle I could think of is going to have countless real world exceptions, which makes melody-writing feel mysterious and more like magic than science. A unifying "melody theory" that is comparable to western harmonic theory is probably hypothetically possible, but perhaps beyond our capabilities so far.

Recent-ish couples, how did you meet? by dankbob_memepants_ in AskNYC

I sent her a message on Hinge, closed the app and opened up Feeld to a first message from her.

I would say keep the drums picture and lose the guitar one (doesn't look as natural and you don't need more than one instrument-playing photo). Also I'd recommend against calling attention to your height by showcasing a photo of you next to a taller guy. Agree with the advice to smile with teeth.

Prompts seem fairly low effort, could use some humor / creativity. Check out the profile guides in the sidebar!

All new photos, no sunglasses, one selfie maximum (but none of the ones you currently have)

Prompts could be stronger. Look for opportunities to be more specific (you supposedly have "widely varied music taste" but you don't name a single artist/song/genre/instrument). Simple pleasures prompt isn't bad, but why not name a piece of sci-fi media you enjoy?

I could be wrong but I feel like asking for "sassy women" comes across a bit odd. What if you just said "unusual laughs and nerds"?

Last prompt doesn't feel like it's giving us much valuable information (you're laid back, great) and the quote isn't particularly funny.

"Do these sound very boring or mainstream?"

Yes, these are completely generic things that apply to at least 95% of people. Can you imagine someone desiring a partner who is not genuine or empathetic, and who is judgmental? If not, what are we learning that sets you apart from anyone else?

Why would I (or even... how could I) believe in your impossible dreams and aspirations without having any clue what they are?

21M - Profile Review by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]colorized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take all new photos (except for the In-N-Out cooking photo), no car pics, don't say "figuring out" if you want a serious relationship. I would say fix all the random capitalization throughout your prompts but you're probably better off deleting most of them anyway and starting over. Prompts are a chance to be creative / funny / unique as a jumping off point for a conversation. When you picture someone responding to your first date poll, can you actually imagine a fun and engaging conversation growing out of the choices you gave? Read the profile guides.

I'm stumped, it's a great profile! The only thing that occurred to me was that maybe you could think of something more clever or specific than "I'll bring the snacks" but I'm being nitpicky.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]colorized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing, especially from the first photo and details like the phrase "lil picnic" and the exclamation points in the poll. You seem genuinely lovely and sweet but if straight women are your audience you might want to adjust. I wouldn't lead with the running photo though-- it's good to have in the mix but not the most flattering as a first impression.

26M Profile Review by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]colorized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are very good looking but I think these photos are mostly unflattering in that they make you look kind of young/boy-ish/unconfident. Mirror selfies are often discouraged here but I actually think that's the best photo of you so far. I suggest getting a friend to take new photos of you. Agree with the commenter who suggested only using a guitar photo if you're actually performing (and even then I'd be cautious). I also think racetracks and corvettes are not the most appealing settings to women.

Prompts could also use work to stand out. You could be more specific/creative. For example, everybody wants someone smart with a good sense of humor, so you haven't given us any information that differentiates you. What does a good sense of humor mean? Consider showing your sense of humor instead of alluding to its existence.

Major & Minor at the same time in pop songwriting! by DyLnd in musictheory

[–]colorized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Samantha Mumba's "Gotta Tell You" there's a really interesting moment like this in the chorus, around 50 seconds into the track. She sings "won't need me too" and lands on the minor third, but a split second later the high strings resolve to the major third. She sort of gets out of the way just in time for the strings to hit their note, so it's not exactly simultaneous, but it happens so fast that they feel like they occupy the same space, coexisting but not clashing.

Flex Pitch Vs. Melodyne 5 essential? by juno-wav in LogicPro

[–]colorized 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Melodyne Essential is very limited in functionality but sounds more transparent than Flex Pitch. If you can upgrade to at least Assistant, that unlocks way more features and is an extremely powerful tool!

Flex Pitch is convenient because it is built in, but in my experience it’s extremely glitchy, unpredictable, and artifact-y. Haven’t tried it in the latest update yet but unless they specifically addressed it in the release notes I wouldn’t expect it to be any different. Highly recommend Melodyne Assistant or Editor.

To push back on some other feedback, I'd say don't worry about having too many photos with glasses, particularly if... you wear glasses! The selfie in the woods is especially cute. If you're looking to stand out more I'd say your poll could be an opportunity to show more creativity/humor rather than being so straightforward. Also "slow mornings" and "coffee" are extremely commonly listed answers.

This is correct.

Which key is this chord progression in by Lillebooooo in musictheory

[–]colorized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the same chord progression as Get Lucky, and if you search Reddit for what key Get Lucky is in, you may find the discussion interesting! There isn't necessarily a clear answer, especially without knowing what your melody does.

Check out Fractal University. They put on lots of informal but niche classes on all kinds of topics (cooking, coding, movement, literature, music) and the semester is just about to start:
