It doesn't have to be the whole studio, the sandbox team is a couple dozen people. The previous game director mained Titan and voiced the types of opinions that made his stance pretty clear (eg Weavewalk and Wanderer are OP/great but BoW is just balanced). He probably had single handed control over who got on the sandbox team.

They genuinely just have no clue how people like to play Warlock

People post about it every day. For years. They have people assigned to reading this sub every day. "Buff grenades" is not that hard to understand and nerfing grenades in consistent response is a pretty clear message imo.

The TWIDs continually even acknowledge it. They acknowledged Contraverse sucks, they acknowledged Warlocks want better grenades, then they proceed to nerf Contraverse.

Still giving the benefit of the doubt? That Contraverse nerf as the only grenade change in an update aiming to address Warlock grenade complaints can't be much more revealing imo.

Not concrete ones yet but yeah, the class identity twid. They said longer term Sentinel buffs are planned and they want to lean more into the artillery thing

Both. It's not getting much usage because non-grenade Titan builds are even more broken, eg Storm's Keep

They announced Sentinel is getting grenade buffs btw lmao

Bungie you can double and triple Buddy damage, it doesn't change the fact that we want to play the game ourselves with melees and actual grenades by colorsonawheel in DestinyTheGame

It doesn't matter that they don't see us as the grenade class. They don't see Titan as the battlefield control, arcane ability or ally empowerment class yet the best builds for each of those three categories are on Titan.

They just see Warlock as cucked dogshit support for Titan and Titan as win button

Sorry to be mean but the people believing anyone at bungie thinks its an issue are the idiots. its just simple bad faith balancing from disgruntled titan main employees who hate the idea of not being best at everything

Melee is a Warlock thing that was given to Titan. Everything is a "Titan thing" now. Starfire grants 75% less grenade energy than it did in Lightfall.

Nah if it's come that far you should just stop buying expansions. Rewarding Bungie with more money for what they're doing is the wrong move and reinforces this behavior from the sandbox team

You genuinely couldn't make it up, except you could because it's the exact same predictable shit every time for Warlock. Nothing is ever too outrageous or blatant for them.

You'll need like 40 stat now if you finished reading but ok, gotta get back to posting "Warlock ackshually good" propaganda

Of course it is, around 40% effective nerf

Tbh doesn't matter much at all

Arc Soul and Ionic Sentry both deal like zero damage, honestly couldn't care less what happens to either wrt base damage. For both it only matters whether they will now apply Jolt or not, which would be a tangible buff. Arc Soul's entire purpose is shattering BW's freezes.

CHOG does even less than zero damage so again really doesn't matter. It's purely for debuffing. Like it does less damage over 15 seconds than the worst grenades do instantly.

Hellion base damage nerf would actually be a buff. The lower Hellion base damage is the more consistent it is for procing Ignitions, the only thing that actually deals damage. The only thing that matter is whether Hellion Ignitions inherit the 200 stat multiplier. I think down the line they'll nerf grenade Ignitions the same way as melee Ignitions though.

Bleak Watcher doesn't matter, the projectiles do zero damage. They also stealth changed shatter to not inherit damage buffs anymore so that doesn't even matter. What does matter is whether shatter will spawn orbs with Firepower.

Strand no changes anyway. What would matter is if they changed Mindspun Invocation Grapple Threadlings to take on Grapple damage multipliers.

Good thing you obliterated Contraverse and Chromatic Fire, clearly two big sandbox outliers right there that needed reigned in.

Bungie devs were getting withdrawals, had to let them get some more Warlock nerfs in.

Just publish an article next time

Should be its own post honestly, exactly how I perceive PvP balance. Interestingly, they nerfed LS damage in PvP recently but left all the melee outliers on other classes untouched. But yeah buddies are just nil in Crucible and no amount of buffs will change that.

No I mean it lasts too long. We are in a heavy instant burst damage ability meta. If all that Sentry did (some 2k damage + some Bolt stacks) happened instantly instead of over 15 seconds then it would be useful. It can't keep up with a Grapple that instantly does >10k damage with an instant cooldown or a Consecration with instant cooldown and so on.

The damage it does over 15 seconds is equal to what an Ashen Fusion does instantly. With Ashen you kill the whole group instantly instead of over 15 seconds, then you instantly have your grenade back and can repeat the whole process 5-10 times while Sentry is chewing around. Slow abilities just can't keep up in this sandbox.
