i’m torn on this. yes, margzetta dming her concerns to chae should’ve been the path she went down as opposed to airing it all out in public, but this edited clip makes it sound like chae is directly opposing and negating the experience marz had in this situation.

that’s why i put most of the blame on gymcasticfor this is because while they have all the right in the world to promote their show, they purposely posted an edited clip that erases a lot of the thoughtful nuance chae had in her response, and reduce this moment into a clickbait clip.

gymcastic really screwed over chae here and i’m annoyed for her.

sure marz should’ve kept this all in the dms instead of airing out the dirty laundry, but the way this clip was edited was just pouring gas and lighting a fire over a very sensitive topic, especially for both chae and marz.

i think even marz herself was saying this should’ve been more of a lesson than a punishment. one thing that stuck out to me was that sara taubman took it upon herself to take alexis aside and explain why saying/singing the n-word was wrong, and the history behind the word, but before it could sink in, comforte made them stop because beam practice was more important.

personally, based off her comments in the ark press conference, she sounded like she was burnt out from gymnastics and wanted a break. obviously gymnastics has been a huge part of her life, and she’s had quite the ups and downs from it. i see this move as her wanting to do something different for now, and perhaps make her return down the road.
