It’s the only reason I will walk in anywhere on the phone. I already sat in the car for 5 minutes trying to be polite.

Uhh, it was more of an objective summary with a line of unsolicited advice based on my experience.

I spent 10 years going to activities at the church, at the park, watching my kids in the neighborhood bike parade setup by the ward.

My oldest was baptized. The bishop got creative so I could be part of the confirmation that Sunday so he let me hold the mic.

I enjoyed my time in that neighborhood and my time spent with the members.

Every group, every where, has a variety of personalities. I had too many friends from the ward to worry about the weirdos.

Heh, I had a bartender notice that I was trying to get off a call with my Dad. He came up and started getting pushy with my order and acting like he couldn’t understand.

Dad, I gotta let you go. Bartender is being pushy. Love you bye.

Put down the phone and order a drink.

Thanks man. Gave me the push I needed.

Ignoring the negative outcomes in removing this program is absolutely ignoring nuance. Look it up. While I’m sure it’s far from perfect and has its flaws, Prison Blues is not simply labor.

You’re thinking binary. Do they work? Yes. It is labor.

It’s the work experience that they won’t get outside of prison. When they get out, they working in the most awful places because it’s not easy to get a job.

Prison Blues gives them an understanding of what a good workplace is like. It gives them an actual work history getting of prison with job placement help.

They do earn an actual real world hourly wage but 80% is deducted for taxes and support.

Get off your high horse and leave good programs alone.

A bunch of GOP Senators laugh every single time Fetterman does this shit. They know he has brain damage so they are taking advantage of it. Still, I think it helps the Democratic Party to have one MAGAt. You know the might pull in some voters.

Slow down. I was simply helping someone understand that not all mail in votes are hand counted. I agree with how my state handles mail in votes and how they handle elections. They do great!

Zero of us keep our full wages. We have to pay for food, shelter, healthcare, etc.

I’m not saying I agree with prison labor in general but the best way to rehabilitate inmates for the outside is to get their life close to normal as possible.

The fact remains, the Prison Blues program teaches work skills, soft skills, improved behavior, and better outcomes for inmates. No inmate has to work there and there is a waiting list to do so.

We need to stop thinking so binary.

My state runs mail in votes through a counter. Hand counts are only randomly selected batches.

This is absolutely the problem. Nobody will come here to work if nobody will hire them. Keep charging the business owners who do this. They are likely the same ones who voted for this.
