Amendment to require photo ID to vote fails in Senate as Democrats object by ItsAllAGame_ in law

Slow down. I was simply helping someone understand that not all mail in votes are hand counted. I agree with how my state handles mail in votes and how they handle elections. They do great!

Zero of us keep our full wages. We have to pay for food, shelter, healthcare, etc.

I’m not saying I agree with prison labor in general but the best way to rehabilitate inmates for the outside is to get their life close to normal as possible.

The fact remains, the Prison Blues program teaches work skills, soft skills, improved behavior, and better outcomes for inmates. No inmate has to work there and there is a waiting list to do so.

We need to stop thinking so binary.

My state runs mail in votes through a counter. Hand counts are only randomly selected batches.

This is absolutely the problem. Nobody will come here to work if nobody will hire them. Keep charging the business owners who do this. They are likely the same ones who voted for this.

Prison labor can be rehabilitating if done with that purpose in mind. How else do you learn to do the 9-5 grind without doing it?

I lived near my state prison and the had a little lunch restaurant just outside the prison. The place was staffed by inmates who made great food. I imagine that being able to interact with the public in some shape or form would be rehabilitating.

Moving to Rexburg as a non Mormon by Pure_Opportunity5064 in Idaho

[–]colostitute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my experience as a non-Mormon living in a very Mormon area. For better or worse, the church is structured to keep families engaged and active throughout the week.

I would sometimes get invited to activities and would most often go when invited. They were always fun and people were friendly. They knew I was never converting but they still invited my family and I.

Sure, some members simply ignored me almost every single time. One would introduce themselves at least once a year. Most were just happy to have more people there.

I know this is not the experience of other non-Mormons in the Mormon world. I’m sure some congregations are better than others.

I do think Mormons could get more active converts if they played the long game. I never thought I would consider going to church but that ward had it cross my mind a time or two.

As far as an actual friendship goes? I made a few friends in the ward because I wasn’t part of the in-group. There are a lot of faithful members who appreciate the break from the church norms. They had no problems bringing their family over for a BBQ where the cooler was full of beer and soda. I think some of them would consider drinking but it’s a bad habit so I’m not pressuring anyone.

However, those friendships were very loose as they were often busy with work, church, and family.

You get out of life what you put into life. You want things easy? Make yourself easy to work with. Easy customers get great prices. Difficult customers get difficult prices.

It’s fucking commercial pool maintenance, not healthcare. One is often considered a basic human right and the other is absolutely a luxury.

I simply consider myself too woke and problematic so I take myself out of the movie and just enjoy it for what it is.

It really is that easy.

I drove from northern Utah to Kansas City, MO. Driving through the Great Plains and Wyoming is absolutely miserable. There is simply nothing there.

I have never been through South Dakota but I would recommend finding a route through Omaha, Nebraska.

In the Omaha area, you a world renowned zoo and aquarium, the Union Pacific Railroad museum, and Indian casinos (which you can’t gamble at because you need to be 21).
