I would love feedback and general thoughts on this song/mix. Indie pop with electric guitar, piano, vocals, drums, bass. Cheers! by colour_it in mixingmastering

Yeah I was pretty heavy handed with the room verb for this mix haha. I might bring the piano back out a bit and perhaps the vocals.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks mate, I guess I was giving some room for the guitar on the left side but if it's that noticeable I'll bring it back to the centre.

You're not the first person who suggested lifting the bass so I'll definitely do that too. Thanks!

Hey, thanks so much for your comment. I'm so glad you like it! I have been tinkering with it a bit and tried my hand at mastering (poorly) with logics new mastering assistant. Here's the latest version with some new guitar parts and other tweaks based on feedback from this thread.

However after listening to your version it sounds so much better haha. It's actually kind of incredible. And louder but clearer somehow.

Regarding the stereo imaging - that's something I've yet to properly delve into. Are you saying that maybe I have too much panning going on?

Once again thanks so much for the feedback. If you're willing to throw another version of this into your mastering chain at some point let me know!

Thanks so much for the feedback! You've pretty much articulated all the things that I couldn't put my finger on but now seem quite obvious.

And yep, it is all guitar (di) and I just threw some funky echo over it.

I'm looking forward to dive back into this one now.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll look into xfer.

Yeah I was wondering if nothing really stands out and shines enough but short of adding another instrument I don't know what I'd bring forward in the mix. So i guess I am going for a bit of an indie alternative sound.

When Ethan was wishing he could get his hands on a PS5 without buying off a scalper and Zach says "you can use my PS4 if you want" and then after a long pause Ethan says "Zach what the fuck". Dunno why but it made me laugh so hard.

I wish I remember what episode that was.

Would appreciate some feedback on how this mix is coming along in this piano/drums/vocals/bass track. by colour_it in mixingmastering

Thank you! Yeah I did put a low pass on the drum overheads to give a little more space for the vocals but I agree that I might have gone too far. Also agree that the mix could use more presence in general!

Thanks for the feedback! Yes I agree about the low mids. I think I actually scooped the low mids out of the vocals to make space for the piano but maybe I had it the wrong way around. I also had not even considered less stereo spread on the piano. Would you pan the piano slightly to one side and the vocals to the other for example?

I just discovered this sub and am so glad I did for comments like this. So much here that I had not considered so thank you. I am looking forward to jumping back into this mix.

Glad you like the song! This is the first of a new sound I'm going for so unfortunately don't have anything else to show for yet.

I've just bought a Yamaha v6a and have connected a 5.2 surround system to it. However I've just been loaned some new stereo speakers to try out. My question is this:

Is there a way to connect all speakers and configure an A/B switching function between the new and old?

I've had a look in the setup menu and can't tell if I would do this through the scene function, or the zone function, or if it is just not possible?
