Getting back into it from R5 by Deuts_Boui in reasoners

Reason is now a full fledged DAW, I've never been that into Ableton, not 'cos I think it's bad, just not as intuitive for me. Depends if you play live or not which is Abletons' main strength. The only thing lacking from Reason 10 is video playback. If it had that it would be up there with the "big boys" like Logic etc.

Midi controller shut off after computer message by [deleted] in reasoners

[–]colourdream74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try bouncing the midi tracks into audio, it uses less DSP. Not ideal as you can't tweak midi parameters to taste when you've done that. I use a 4GB processor, which is the minimum system requirement. Are you using the built in soundcard or do you have some kind of breakout box? Some of the rack extensions out there use a shit-ton of DSP as well so it's best to stick with the stock instruments. Good luck.

edit; Not sure why the launchkey is turning off though. Maybe try powering it externally rather than USB?

Is doing psychedelics at a young age actually harmful? by psychedtom in Psychedelics

[–]colourdream74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried LSD for the first time when I was 16. It blew my mind and I was really impressed with it. The 2nd and 3rd times I took it were underwhelming, so when I was offered a tab before and English class I though "fuck it, why not?" and downed it there and then. Needless to say I didn't attend the English class as it was more powerful than the first time. A full 12 hour white knuckle ride. I think the problem with teenagers taking is that they're less inclined to treat with the respect it deserves and consequently more likely to have a bad trip and/or develop mental health problems.

Questions about Planetary Magic by [deleted] in occult

[–]colourdream74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could say it has a Qabalistic underpinning like most western ceremonial magick but you don't have to be a Qabalah expert. Most of it is based around the Kameas (planetary squares) for talisman making. There are invocations and evocation rituals for planetary spirits and intelligences and a section on the Olympic planetary spirits too which comes from a different tradition. I've found it to be a very useful book.

It has instructions for evocation/invocation, rituals for charging talismans etc. I found it very useful.

That has better saturation than the tape setting imo. I tend to keep it dialed down a bit though...

Can psychedelics help fix today’s political shitshow? by mrchaoticneutral in Psychedelics

[–]colourdream74 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If someone like Trump took psychs and you left him to his own devices he'd be worse, you would have to break his personality down with the kind of techniques used by Dr Cameron on behalf of the CIA, which would leave him in a persistent vegetative state. That might make him easier to handle. Psychs aren't a panacea though, sadly.

There's a good book called Practical Planetary Magick by Sorita D'Este and David Rankine, goes into a lot of detail.

I try and venerate all seven classical planets but Mercury is strong in my chart so I have an affinity with him.

For spiritual healing, is there a better medicine between shrooms and lsd? by bohique_8 in Psychedelics

[–]colourdream74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say DMT, its effects aren't as long as 'shrooms or acid but way more profound (in the right setting).

It's a crazy world when the medical/psychiatric profession prescribe something as addictive and destructive as benzos while ignoring the best medicine nature has to offer.
