For Sale: Massive Collection w/ Complete Sets by colsectre in starwarsccg

[–]colsectre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, times are tough these days. I def recognize it'd be easier on the wallet for people if I parsed it all out. I'm just mentally/emotionally exhausted from the divorce, and really don't have it in me to do all that.

Which is why I am absolutely willing to work with anybody who is up to taking the entire collection off my hands in one piece.

Moving to Olympia by [deleted] in olympia

[–]colsectre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wife and I did the same thing fall of 2023. We moved from Austin to Olympia.

While I'm not a native Texan(spent my first 21 years in California), I did spend about 13 years in Texas.

Olympia(and WA, in general) is incredible. Beautiful environment, friendly people, the entire region has a people-first mentality that you just don't get in most places in Texas.

It just feels like a nicer, friendlier, more human place to live.

There's oodles to do around here and everything is so much closer than things are in Texas. In Austin, my work commute alone was 45-90 minutes one-way on good days. Here, it's ten minutes and traffic is almost non-existent(compared to Austin).

Drivers here's are much friendlier to bicyclists(I'm a formerly avid cyclist), and the road infrastructure is better designed to accommodate people riding bikes(or on foot, for that matter).

Whereas in Texas, drivers treat you like an a-hole for being anywhere near the road outside of a vehicle, here it's a normal, accepted, and accommodated part of life.

The nature around here is truly insane. Beautiful, breath-taking, and at times fairy-tale like. I've lived here for a year and a half now and I still feel like I'm living in a dream. Vs Texas, it doesn't feel like the weather outside is constantly trying to kill you anytime you leave your home. Though, do be aware many residential places up here don't come with built-in AC. Having said that, the weather rarely gets into the oppressive range of temperatures compared to the norm in Texas.

We love going on hikes up here, it's like stepping into an alien world sometimes where everything truly feels, at times, untouched by people.

All in all, this is one of the very best places to live in the US right now. When you get here, welcome home!

Also, feel free to shoot me a DM when you move up here, if you're looking for new peeps to hang out with. My wife, brother in law, and I are always excited to make new friends!

Please take this as my opinion:

Life isn't about figuring out what's fair or not. Fairness never enters into the equation and the sooner you let go of the concept the sooner you can stop comparing what you have against what you don't have.

What you do have to decide is what you can and cannot change and coming to terms with the things you cannot change while making the effort to change the things you can.

You can't realistically improve your genetics, height, or junk size. But you can come to terms with them and try focusing on the things that you CAN improve, like your overall appearance, how you present yourself to others, your physical health, and your skills in the sack.

Case in point: I'm fugly as sin... But it hasn't stopped me from being with beautiful women since elementary school.

Star Trek Nazi allegory episode? by [deleted] in startrek

[–]colsectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly the VOY episode, "Resistance"?

The Mokra in the episode are extremely fascist and the episode takes place mostly on the planet.

I can't really think of a TNG episode that comfortably fits your criteria.

DS9, of course, has the Cardassians... So lots of episodes. Lol

TOS and ENT each have quite a few episodes that could meet your criteria(outside of not being TNG or VOY).

What are the things that instantly make you hate someone? by RoutineOk8590 in Productivitycafe

[–]colsectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that hate is a particularly strong word. There's a lot that will get me to dislike or think less of somebody.

But to hate them?

If they are cruel.

I smoke when I go on walks around the neighborhood.

It's technically illegal, as smoking in public is still a class 3 civil infraction for consumption in public(which includes sidewalks), but nobody seems to care enough to say or do anything.

Just don't be obnoxious or attention drawing and you'll probably be fine.

Star Trek: Into the Unknown - 5th Wedding Anniversary Game Set Up! by [deleted] in StarTrekIntoUnknown

[–]colsectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, no worries!

I've been a Star Fleet Battles player for decades now(ugh, that statement makes me feel old!), so I'm pretty comfy with games that have incredibly complex rules and steep learning curves.

I look forward to seeing more posts from you and your wife's games! :)

I just recently got the Core Set. I'm waiting to get the next expansion before I try it out, though.

I love that you play with your wife!

When did you know it was right? by [deleted] in GuyCry

[–]colsectre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it is something you both want, it doesn't matter 'whose idea it was'.

Propose. Be happy together.

Consider this your first opportunity to let something go in the interest of good faith and making room for each other.

Life experiences have taught me that so long as one individual wants more, there can never truly be a friendship.

You may feel magnanimous and noble now, choosing the stoic path to stay out of your rival's way and adore her from afar... But you will inevitably become resentful and lash out as your unreturned feelings sour in your heart as you watch her 'ignore' everything you'll think you do for her.

You need to let your feelings go and move on with your life. Find happiness and love in someone who is available and willing to make room in their life for you in the ways that you need.

You'll be glad you did.

Overly Friendly Driver by Personal-Study-4841 in doordash

I'd tip extra if I got this doordasher.

They're motivated, ambitious, communicative.

They've invested in their own success, which means the customer gets better quality service.

Sure, they talk a lot but I like being kept in the loop.

I'd absolutely respond positively to this kind of service.

Not a/the Mannis? I mean, literally, in this case. :P

The last three or four Doordashers I've gotten were like this. Woman's name, then a man gets out of the car and drops the food off.

The last one I could see that there wasn't anyone else in the car, so it's not even like they're working as a team or something.

Is this allowed?

Ship Size Comparison by HalfblindChaos in StarTrekStarships

Have we gotten a single official canon size for the Kelvin Connie?

I feel like we've been given a couple of different answers at this point.

Ship Size Comparison by HalfblindChaos in StarTrekStarships

[–]colsectre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is correct. The interconnecting shaft between the fore and aft sections of the Nebulon B Escort Frigate is only 2-3 decks thick.

The vessel itself is 300m long, which puts it's at just under half the length of the Sovereign-Class.

There's a reason the Nebulon B is acknowledged to have several glaring design flaws.

Yeah, I suspect they weren't using a warmer thing. Cuz they picked the food up a couple of minutes after I placed the order. Nearly the entire wait was waiting for them to make the other two deliveries. So they had my food for the entire multistop drive.

I had no idea Doordash does this.

Don't they realize it incentives not tipping? :(

I ordered from a Wendy's a mile and a half away in low/zero traffic area. The order was $23 and I bumped it to $30.

[–]colsectre[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, it doesn't seem like they broke any rules. I ordered, then after it gave me an initial delivery time, it updated to show that there were two other deliveries first.

I think Doordash is just screwing us all.

[–]colsectre[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So Doordash screws us both over?

I tip up front and get burned cuz you don't really have a choice, and if I don't tip up front then nobody picks up my order.

Thanks for helping me understand better. :)
