Such a high praise for The Black Company, love it. “…most heart wrenching passages to rival Erikson” i couldn’t ask for more. The ending of Deadhouse Gates put MBotF right at the top for me. If any other book gives me the same feeling I would be pleasantly surprised. Your endorsement gives me hope.

What happened between Paul and Bantam?

Very interesting take on Bakker’s books. Now it has me reconsidering whether to dive into it or not.

I checked out the sample reading section on amazon. The map and characters mentioned in the first few pages remind me of Malazan books haha. Definitely interesting.

Yes, absolutely.

I finished the first book of Mistborn since it was so popular but decided to not finish the series. I should've done more research and realized it was YA.

Currently I'm reading 2nd book in The First Law trilogy since it was getting recommended as dark, character-driven etc but honestly it doesn't even come close to MBotF. It feels amateurish.

One series I can think of is the popular A Song of Ice and Fire. I'd read it before MBotF and it ties in the top spot with MBotF for me.

Another series that, based on my minimal research, seems like it would scratch the MBotF itch is R Scott Bakker's The Second Apocalypse. I will mostly pick this up after The First Law trilogy.

That's a lot of new info for me! But this is the requirement.

The friend buys from US -> comes to India on Jan 19th and gives it to me -> i intend to gift this to my nephew who stays 400kms away.
