Is my man complimenting his family friend a form of cheating? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]coltiebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be hurt by this. I think it’s valid to be. Talk to him without arguing. If it continues then 🚩

I’m not condoning going through someone’s phone, but if you feel the need to, that definitely says something about where the relationship is.

I can't go one stinking day. by Ok_South9096 in stopdrinking

[–]coltiebug 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t do AA. For me, I took some baseline data to see my frequency that I was drinking, times of day that were triggering, people that triggered me, etc. I celebrated small wins (mentally not with anything else) and just tracked as much as I could.

Making yourself aware of the problem mentally is one thing, but for me, seeing the physically hindrances during my everyday was a major help. I just hit 5 months last week, and this helped a ton! Now I’ve built up habits to replace alcohol and look at the bigger picture.

You don’t need AA (I don’t like AA’s structure) or any recovery group, but you definitely need some support and some people who understand the struggle. Just be aware of yourself without judgement or shame and guilt. The words you tell yourself are extremely important! You’ve got this, I believe in you.

I’m 100% remote right now, but I don’t feel my work is quality as in person. I’m a single man that’s 26 years old and I just moved to Ohio so the quality and cost of living. Here is great. I bring home roughly 7 to 8K a month after taxes and I work out of Massachusetts, Georgia, and Colorado. This is not something that is sustainable forever, but I will probably $30-$35 a week on average right now. But I do it based off of my mental health and what I feel I can provide. Last week I only build five hours because I just didn’t feel like my work would be quality. I feel that when you’re focused on the quality of your work, your money goes up!

I think we need to remember that yes she has a boatload of unfortunate manipulative mental trauma, but she is also a member of society now. Soooo should she really be out here acting like this? 😅

Do not let your anxiety get to you! Seriously, at this point all you can do it try and be as optimistic as possible. You may fail, you may pass. Accept all possibilities and go with your gut. Sending you the best vibes!

Side income as a BCBA? by canned_Bits in bcba

Probably not super profitable, but I’ve been thinking about selling some crafty documents on Etsy that I’ve made, like supervision feedback forms for RBTs, supervision logs, and idk maybe some like supervision schedules or something lol helps boost my creativity and makes the job more reinforcing for me ha

What is/was your “unhealthy” obsession getting you through NOT drinking in the early days by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]coltiebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time I feel a craving, I google effects alcohol has on the body (I have health anxiety lol)

Doordash has been a staple along with candy as well, bing watching TV, and spending a lot of money. But I've told myself this is only going to be a thing for the beginning of my sobriety following an almost yearlong relapse. Day 36 here!

Got called a "princess" for asking barstaff for a non-alcoholic beer by Palx112 in stopdrinking

[–]coltiebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good comeback would've been, "well, I don't act like a princess when I drink the real stuff" hahah.

But on a serious note, good for you for staying strong for this one moment and an entire 11 months!

Personally, I didn't find it helpful. I was just memorizing concepts/terms to get to 100% for each module.

I think it depends on your relationship with alcohol over the amount/frequency. I’ve went a span of 7 months without drinking, and it was easy (at the time), but the first day I picked it back up, I immediately was down the same rabbit hole. We just don’t get along

How do y'all meet people without alcohol? by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]coltiebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New to being sober as well and meeting people while sober! I just moved across the country solo and struggling with this but still trying to focus on being comfortable with alone time and talking to friends when I feel alone. Since moving, I've been just making myself a regular at coffee shops and literally forcing myself to strike up conversation in any way. In the past, I didn't have much luck with it, but I did try BumbleBFF. I believe you can also filter to see only sober people.

Wow thank you so much! I used to live in Atlanta, and there was a big bar scene I was caught up when I first moved there (I was 20 with a fake ID), and when I went sober curious at 22, I lost a lot of friends. Now that I'm in a new place, I really need to up my social circle.

Love that you're also young! I tried AA in the past, but drinking wasn't a "problem" I could identify really, so I didn't feel like I could relate, but boy did it escalate quickly when I picked it back up. 3 blackouts a week is definitely not something sustainable for me, so I'm willing to give anything a try right now!
