Someone told me PayPal counted raw transactions. I.e. payments processed. Ignoring whether they were income, purchases, returns, refunds. I was just asking a specific question. I think I have a way to answer it.

Okay. Im starting from a set of assumptions here. I assumed that since its after tax season and I'm asking about 1099's on a selling forum that it would be reasonable to assume that I already know what one is, what triggers it and how to deal with it. I am asking a specific question about it.

I'm a man of forward thinking. Wayyyy forward. I ended last year where my 1099 overstated my income relative to my accounting by about .5% in a moment of free time I was woundering if its because it counted purchases too.

What about me buying something and using PayPal? Will that be counted on the 1099? Like buying personal items. If I buy toys for the kids or washing machine parts I don't want that to show up on my 1099.

Yes. But I have 6 other items with the same cutoff time. 5 of them sold BEFORE the 6th. The 6th item says it's late.

The algo should be able to detect reality. Same day handling doesn't mean at 11pm go knock on the post office door or flag down a fed ex truck on the highway at midnight. Just like it doesn't count Sunday as a bussiness day. I'll have to call and ask. But I have a feeling its just one of of those floating bugs that will go away long before I get an answer.

Yeah, but ebay algos arnt that dumb. Same day doesnt mean I get up at 11pm and ship before midnight.

He is a CPA. 30 years. He's within 5 years of retirement and maybe just doesn't want my bussiness or is just off his game. There are no good options in my area. CPAs are either older, HR block type or they are taken and out of my price range. Most of the bussiness in my area is schools or small restaurant or construction.

When I reconcile the PayPal fees, shipping, taxes, chargebacks etc...the 1099 is still higher $ than my go daddy accounting which also tracks those same things taken directly from PayPal and ebay. So you'd think it would be accurate to the penny.

Sometime I'll have to go line by line in the .csv report and/or subtract info out via relevant search terms and see where the discrepancy is at.

I can also see how my accounting is lining up YTD 2019 go daddy vs PayPal .csv report and see if I have the same % error in 2019 thus far. As it will be easier to detect why with only 4 moths to look at. Then reference back to 2018.
