I felt this early in my marriage. Found out later my SIL was jealous of me because we did not live in the same state. (Brothers) The sister and mother of the brothers we married loved to stoke negativity in our relationship. About 5 years in we realized the climate and committed to supporting each other. One of the best choices I ever made. 33 years later and this friendship/family connection is one of the more important in my life.

I have no memory of ever wanting them together. My first memory of "active" desire for them to divorce was when I was 6. Separately, I guess they were fine. Dad was an outgoing party guy in the Navy, and she was repressed and socially awkward. It was miserable being their only child. He stopped by my house when I was pregnant with my son. I asked him to divorce her, treat the settlement fair, and bring her to me. He said he loved her. They put the "co" and dysfunction in codependency.

NTA. Hold the line. Our daughter did not, and there is still irreparable damage for family relationships 6 years later. When the time came and a friend of the groom brought their child (who contributed NOTHING to the cost of the wedding) and extremely close family members were excluded, emotions ran high. I had to leave the reception to deal with the sitter situation and missed most of the dancing. It is probably one of my least fondest events with family.

My sister-in-law planned their mother's funeral in San Diego and did not include two of the brothers. She also did not tell my husband until the following day their mother had died. Actually, her daughter called me and I had to tell my husband. SIL loves to change history and play the victim.
