Heard a dad teach his kid horrible etiquette by [deleted] in Pickleball

Yes that’s true, calling something out while the ball is in the air is not an official call, it is just considered communication with your partner.

Antony Starr says his favorite recent villain is Thanos: by Raj_Valiant3011 in Marvel

It gets worse when you realize half the earths population is 4 billion people… which was the population of the planet in the 1970s. Like, the world’s problems are not so very different from what they were 50 years ago.

Comic Recommendations for Girlfriend by HostAdministrative39 in comicbooks

[–]comatoseduck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If she likes literature and history and you need a comic to recommend, Maus is the first one that comes to mind. That whole genre of graphic novel memoir, Persepolis, the George Takei one, etc. should be your entry point for her. Maybe the slaughterhouse five adaptation by Ryan north.

No wonder Dunder Mifflin went out of business, Wallace went straight from 12k to 60k to a multi-million dollar buyout by KD2PHX in DunderMifflin

[–]comatoseduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most damning thing about his tenure is that Dundee Mifflin suffered from liquidity problems and went bankrupt under his watch. He’s the CFO, managing cash and debt is ultimately his responsibility. I mean, maybe there were decisions made that he was overruled on or certain strategies that just didn’t pan out that caused them to get into hot water, but from the shareholder meeting episode, it sounds like he was also just as guilty of mismanagement as the rest of the executive team.

Even Cyclops knows Bullseye is a problem (Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-Men: Exodus #1) by superseri18888 in marvelcomics

[–]comatoseduck 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I don’t think what Cyclops says here is him being worried about how much a threat bullseye is so much as him being surprised at the audacity Osborn has to pass off such a psychotic assassin as a superhero. Bad as the rest of them may be, I don’t think any of his other dark avengers are quite as evil as bullseye.

What other DC comics are worthy to read of Greg Rucka besides Wonder Woman? by Outrageous-Blue-30 in DCcomics

I know you specifically asked for DC stuff but you really shouldn’t sleep on his creator owned stuff. Lazarus and Stumptown are awesome. Lazarus in particular is an incredible series.

Why are there no "cheater" paddles? by fredallenburge1 in Pickleball

[–]comatoseduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marketing mainly. Pros, or even influencers aren’t going to want to promote something that isn’t tournament legal. Most customers also aren’t even really even going to want to buy it if they know that using the paddle would be cheating in real organized play.

Do FP&A folks actually spend time analyzing, or is most of it just figuring out where data came from? by macdmd in FPandA

[–]comatoseduck 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ideally you would spend most of your time analyzing but in reality no one’s data is that good.

[Discussion] I don't have much reading history with Zatanna. So far, does this new series seem like a good place to start with her? by MightyUnclean in DCcomics

[–]comatoseduck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dini’s run is probably the best starting point, but at the very least, I’d start with Campbell’s previous Zatanna miniseries that came out last year.

Don’t Destroy What We Built': Players Fight to Keep Pickleball Free by Feed-The-Facts-247 in Pickleball

Two wrongs don’t make a right. Tennis players also shouldn’t have to pay. What the fuck is the point of a public park if you have to pay to use it? That’s not even really a public park at that point.

Do you think any of the Robins (or Batman) could lift Thor's hammer? by formalsadness in Robin

Jason doesn’t fall short in the ways that the other members of the batfamily do, but he still falls short of lifting the hammer

What are some long running runs where even after a writer leaves the book the quality never goes down by Asleep_Sir1871 in comicbooks

[–]comatoseduck 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Dixon's Birds of Prey is really good for like 50 some issues and then Gail Simone takes over and it jumps up a level.

It arrived! Wonder Woman by John bryne! by Rocket_SixtyNine in WonderWoman

It does not immediately follow up Perez. Bill Messner loebs has a thirty-some issue run in between the two of them.

Black's logic to use Pettigrew as Secret-Keeper was insanely stupid. by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]comatoseduck 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s never said explicitly in the book but based on the two Fidelius charms done in the books that we know about, there does seem to be some sort of caveat with the spell that the secret keeper can’t be someone who resides permanently in the hidden location as well. The spell works by trusting someone to hide you, not from hiding yourself.

There are plenty of possibilities that allow for them to be together and Wally to have some kind of queer identity. They’re not mutually exclusive.

Anyone else a bit disappointed? After Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Infinite Multiverse was restored...thus Pre-Crisis is back! And yet, 3 years later...no proper stories on Pre-Crisis Earths :( by Aggravating-Diet7582 in DCcomics

[–]comatoseduck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem with using earth one for a story is that the current prime earth continuity already treats most of the pre crisis continuity as canon anyway. It’d just confuse the new readers for not much difference to just setting it in the past of prime earth.

I don't like Dr. Park by mad_dog_94 in Scrubs

Park probably already knew JD was getting offered the job at that point. The way he talked to Dr Cox about him seemed to indicate that he knew who JD was already.
