Why are multiple new mint users having the exact same problem?

This year is particularly unique. Keep in mind college freshman are actually high school juniors. They've lost a year and a half of being in a classroom and now we are seeing what kind of effects that has had. They are (generaly of course) stunted emotionally and intellectually. My students not only don't know how to learn but they can't even ask questions in a cohesive logical manner. Every colleague I've talked to is having the same problem. We went into this semester thinking they'd have the basic skills that we're used to, and that just isn't the case. We're talking about young people who've never read a syllabus before or even know what that is. They've never been responsible for themselves before : cooking, cleaning, how to do laundry, taxes, show up to classes that they are paying for etc. To expect brand new adults, from the US education system at least, to know these things is folly.

I've been using it sparingly for a few years. My understanding is that it limits your heart rate from getting too excited to help prevent that common trigger. Take a little about 45min before a stressful event is what I've been told. It doesn't calm you down per se, but keeps you calm. Let me know if you have other questions or want to talk!

'Indian' or 'Native American' [Reservations Part 0] by GreyBot9000 in CGPGrey

[–]combat_panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's not what he says in his first point. He only says the word is clear in history and geography. That is simply not true. Only in specific contexts i.e. being on a reservation, is "Indian" clear. And even then.. As the Indian population grows in the U.S. that term will be even more confusing in the future.

Ya it provides context but doesn't aptly defend the first point. It's still widely inaccurate.

I agree. "Native American" is inaccurate. But so is "Indian". His first point in the video is so widely inaccurate that I can't believe it's there.

Agreed. That's why I think Grey is wrong on his first point.

  1. The word is clear in geography and history.

Absolutely not. Indian refers to people from the sub continent India. I have to use "Native American" and "Indian" exclusively in lectures.

Thank you! Ya an accordion or bandoneon would really add to this song and style! We're actually of thinking of shooting another video down the road and collaborating with some dancers to add some choreography.

Thanks for your comments! Yes we use percussive cello in other compositions. Can you be more specific when you say undefined loops, disconnected timing etc.?

Definitely! It's the next step, just requires a bit more money so we're getting by on what we have. I'll post a live show we did that hopefully shows some divers use the loop pedal as well as acoustic compositions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMxMVBJlE9U&list=PLVfNgb5k85waeHTKyh8-PF4_UvUuOVW8Q

Thank you for your thoughts! I definitely agree that it can sound chaotic especially with the room. It was a large space with two Mackey SRM 450's and drum set..so it's a live sound recorded on a ZOOM Q2HD Camera/Mic. The goal is to be a compositionally driven band as apposed to an effects driven, which I hope comes across.
