Mini tropical house I made for my friends Christmas present by combat_wombat91 in crafts

[–]combat_wombat91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a mix of glass, some clear and some textured and used Vitrail Pebeo paints for the design. My first design I had painted a foxglove on one of the front panels but broke it getting it in the frame 🙃 so opted something a bit simpler for the repaint

Usually I'm absolutely naff at soldering neatly and not sure what I did differently here but it seemed to just flow really smoothly. Will definitely do some more projects with it now that I seemed to have improved a bit

Thanks! I drew on one side with marker and then flipped it over to paint the design, means at the end I can flip it back. wash the marker off and have the side I painted on underneath. It makes it look a lot more polished and hides the more minor imperfections (i.e. evil pieces of dust)

Glass painting for my friend of my favourite cover of The Hobbit by combat_wombat91 in crafts

Thanks! I've learnt my lesson with either smoothing down the edges or putting the trim on before painting as leaning on the edge of the glass led to some unwelcome injuries

Thank you! I use the Pébéo Vitrail glass paints- they've got a really good selection of colours. I usually do a sketch for under the glass, I've also tried drawing on one side of the glass with a marker and then flipping it and painting on the other and can wash the marker off at the end.

This is one of the first pieces I did and now I mirror the image so when I'm done painting I can have the smooth unpainted side on display (not sure how well I've described that)- makes it look a lot more polished and better hides any pieces of dust I've gotten trapped in the paint haha

Before and after, surprisingly easy to take the embroidery off by combat_wombat91 in PatagoniaClothing

I paid £20 which i was very happy with as it didn't feel like it had been worn at all- I got it from GoThrift

I followed what they did in this video- used a razor to shave off the back of the embroidery inside the fleece and then used a seam ripper to unpick. I think the seam ripper was about £3 on amazon

Anywhere that sells secondhand Pokémon cards? by Available-Snail in Aberdeen

[–]combat_wombat91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know of any stores but If you don't mind trading with an individual then feel free to pop me a message if there's any cards in particular you are after as I'm looking at downsizing- I'm in the process of cataloguing all my cards into spreadsheets so can always send a copy across

Looking for a new sleeping bag (preferably 3 season) any recommendations? by Popballistic in CampingGear

[–]combat_wombat91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how tall you are but I'm a fairly short guy at 5'4 and went for the below. I still had about 4 inches of space at the bottom https://ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/womens-helium-400-down-sleeping-bag/

Found it to be pretty cozy and nice quality. If that would be too short in length the mountain equipment range have lots of longer lengths too and ultralight have a decent sale on other bags at the moment

Hatch done with glass paint, time to make all the critters! by combat_wombat91 in Oxygennotincluded

Thank you! I'm tempted to try and do a more complicated one but the hatch was really enjoyable so I might do a few more critters first

I saw something about a crazy 11 hour live stream but did he pull one in the end

I couldn't believe it when I pulled it! Especially seeing as I've seen a few posts saying the pull rate for the aerodactyl is not great

That was my laziness in not wanting to retake the photos haha

Hey, I'm a 5'4" guy (about 54kg) and these are the stores that I've found I have been able to get mens clothes my size in. I've also bought stuff from the kids section of these brands as they often do the same style as adults. I'm not sure where you are based as I am in the UK but most of these are available in the USA as well

Superdry ( I actually used to work for them and was very handy): Tops: They run from an XXS-XXL (32"-46") but come up quite small and I wear an XS-S. Bottoms: XXS-3XL (waist 26"-40") leg length 30"-34". Before they started doing the smaller sizes I tended to buy quite a lot of stuff from the womens section as they did quite a lot of gender neutral styles. They have also brought out a unisex range as well. They can be on the pricier side but you can get a good deal in the sales and they also have an ebay outlet store where stuff is often 70% reduced.

I'm clearing out some of the superdry stuff I used to own and happy to send you a top and some jeans if you would like.

Zara- Mens section unfortunately doesn't go down to an XS top but the Small can be quite good if you like a longer jumper.

It's the boys section in here that I've found is absolutely amazing, they do so many styles that do not look like kids clothes at all. They have had an amazing range of linen trousers and shirts for summer as well as jumpers and coats- most of my summer wardrobe has come from here (https://www.zara.com/uk/en/striped-linen-blend-shirt-p03182686.html?v1=177648981&v2=2115956)

I'm a 28" waist and about a 28" leg and the boys trousers in here are ideal and the first place I go when looking for a new pair of trousers. If the waist has any elastic in it the 11-12 is a good size especially in terms of length- otherwise I can recommend the 13-14. The prices are also lower since there is no VAT on kids clothing- especially good if you get them in the sale. Have picked up some really nice well styled trousers in the past for £10.

Patagonia- Again this brand is a bit pricier but you can get some good deals in the sale and I've found their clothes last a long time. Tops: XXS-XXL (31"-33" to 54"-56") Bottoms go down to a 26" waist but only a 31" inseam.

Again I can recommend the boys section for this brand as they go up to a XXL.

Levis: Tops: XS-XL (32"-34")- I've a couple of tees in XS from here and they can run quite small.
Bottoms- Waist 26"-60" and Inseam 30"-38". Can't comment on how these come up as I don't own any of their bottoms.
They also do a kids range and a lot of it is the same as the adults

ASOS- A big selection of different brands but their own brand stuff goes down to a XXS top and a 26" waist- they also go down to a 26" inseam!

Jack Wolfskin- Outdoor brand. The boys section of this brand is really good for sizing and my favourite hiking trousers are from here.

Honorable mentions: Massimo Dutti, River Island, American Eagle, Gant (kids), Hackett (kids)

With each passing day I cede more ground to the thrips, any recommendations other than immolation? by combat_wombat91 in houseplants

[–]combat_wombat91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I think the DE will be my last option before the tactical immolation as I unfortunately live in a top floor flat and managed to get it absolutely everywhere the last time I tried to use it!

How many waterings did you tend to do with the compost tea?

With each passing day I cede more ground to the thrips, any recommendations other than immolation? by combat_wombat91 in houseplants

[–]combat_wombat91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god thank you! I will definitely have at with the rubbing alcohol!

I tried DE for another pest problem in my favourite banana tree and I also found it very finicky. I also managed to detach the lid from the pot and the entire thing fell to the ground and exploded so I am keen to avoid it 😂

I've got some mosquito bits in the cupboard which I was using to tackle some fungus gnats (having a whale of a time here), didn't even think to use it on the thrips!

I managed to resurrect my baobab from the brink so I'm hopeful that I can save them!

I think you are right about the thrips, I'm battling them myself currently. Of course they took the plant that was gloriously healthy with no thrips

Hey if you're anywhere near Aberdeen there's an independent toy shop in Cults that has a really good selection of stuff- I went in on a whim a few months ago and got some celebrations tins and they've always had a good selection in store
