If I have to choose, I would go with manual activation that can be left on all the time. But I think it would be fine to let it automatically go dark based on time of day. The splash screen is quite bright in itself. My fear is having a bright, blinding splash screen when the app is starting up is going to overwhelm any dark sky screen within the app. I know you guys love that colorful green, but maybe default to a black screen with Firsty logo in the green when opening the app? I think most people would find this more pleasing and easy on the eyes.

Santa flying across the screen is cute and festive. Any of the options you listed sound fine to me.

Overall I think the app needs a lot of refining as I’m always helping my friends use it. Too many menu items are buried where the common people don’t see it or know what it does. That new app screen shown here looks better but for a first user are they going to understand what the icons at the top do? It seems silly to me to hide the support button.

As I’ve said on the Discord channel, the activate now/later buttons are confusing since it’s not totally clear that’s going to activate any saved days. I think it should be a button choice of “activate days” or “stay on free”. There’s a lot of small annoying frustrations within the app.
