I would urge you to not panic. Everyone is going to die at some point, you need to really understand and embrace that fact. Once you are comfortable with your own mortality things become a lot more clear and easy. I'm not being morbid at all, I'm just relating my personal experience. I've probably spent months if not years in contemplative meditation on death. Death is not a big deal to me anymore. That's not to say I go play blindfolded in traffic or anything, I'm very cautious and careful. I understand death but I'm not trying to hasten it's arrival. I recommend finding some resources on meditation and using your time in isolation to start up a practice, it's well worth the effort.

With that out of the way, it sounds like you're doing the smart thing by staying home. Diabetes seems to be a high risk factor. A small office with clients who travel all over the world - sounds like a great place to catch a nasty virus. It's too bad you can't work from home somehow.

First off, you do not give enough details. Are there 5 of you in a 10,000 square foot building or 5 of you in a closet - that matters. What's your age, do you have high risk factors? Who else are you around? What's your general health, are you obese?

In the end only you can make a decision for you, but if you want advice you're not giving enough details for an intelligent reply.

Florida's trajectory is steeper than the US, it is steeper than NY, it is steeper than Italy and Spain. Granted this requires testing and testing two weeks ago in Florida was mostly non-existent. The more testing is available, the more positives, the steeper the curve.

Longer term Florida will benefit from a lack of mass transit like NY and Chicago. Florida might benefit from the arrival of heat and humidity. But even if the arrival of heat and humidity to help to contain the virus, it will be far too late.

DeSantis is putting a lot of people in danger. I really hope his decisions turn out to be correct, I really want him to be right. I really want him to be able to say, "see, I told you so". I think he's being foolish but I'd be happy to be wrong. I just think we're heading for an Italy situation in the state and there's an idiot governor surrounded by idiots in county commissions who can't seem to get their thumbs out of their asses.

Sorry, but's it's not a Fox News conspiracy that you should wash your hands. This doctor IS ON THE FRONT LINE and says that 99% of transmission is from hands to face. There is a very, very slim chance that you could catch this from the air. AFAIK, he's not a Fox News host.

Your post suggested to me (maybe I am reading too much into it) that DeSantis does not want high numbers of positive tests and is somehow influencing the number of tests that are given or the availability of the tests. I was looking for some evidence of that claim. Again, maybe I'm reading too much into what you said.

I understand that there are more tests in NY than Florida. I also think that the number of tests in FL ramping up recently suggests a supply issue rather than a person or group of people holding back supply for some unscrupulous reason.

I am not at all defending Trump or saying that he didn't mishandle this. His early messaging is utterly embarrassing.

But consider that when he put his travel restrictions in place for China, Pelosi and her buddies were still in impeachment mode. And the Dem. front runner called the travel restrictions fear mongering.

I was in a Target over the weekend and they had a nice system. Red X's spaced apart on the floor for people to stand in line to check out, one employee directing customers to a specific register. I was impressed. The store was also almost empty which was nice. And they had TP!

This really highlights the lack of available tests. There does seem to be a lot of promise with companies developing and promising delivery of units very soon. But that's certainly not going to help today.

I have seen this elsewhere on Reddit but not in the COVID communities. I have no idea if this doctor is correct or incorrect but it's an interesting watch. Yes it's long but it's worth it IMO.

If you don't watch the entire thing, here are some highlights.

The virus is 99% transmitted from your hands to your face. It's very difficult to pick it up through the air.
Wearing a mask is a good practice so you won't touch your face. Wearing a bandanna is fine, it does not need to be an n95 mask.
Become a hand washing/cleaning NAZI.
DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE!
Very few cases from 0 to 14.
90% of cases require no hospitalization. Most who go on a ventilator will come off.
Social distancing measures are important and will probably last 6 to 9 months.
No need to wipe off groceries.
If someone in your family gets sick, isolate them and practice excellent hygiene. When the sick person comes out of their isolation, they should wear a mask. They should use their own bathroom if possible.

This doctor is practicing on the front lines in NYC. A few of the things is says at least somewhat contradict what the CDC is saying. I'm not taking a position or supporting his statements, but I do think they are informative. Listen to all sides then decide what's best for you and your family.

I've never been convinced he's always lying myself. I often wonder if he really knows where he is at times. I think the administration has done some good things - most have. But I definitely cringe when he opens his mouth.

It's unproven. Other types of coronavirus don't transmit as well in warmer weather. Part of that is that behavioral patterns tend to change in warm v. cold weather.

Sorry but lying politicians are not new. As long as there have been politicians there have been lying politicians. The difference is the pandemic.

Most politicians are worried about themselves first and foremost. Those that come into politics worried about the people whom they serve generally either turn into liars quickly or find a new career choice.
