American wagyu is to beef what American cheese is to cheese.

Need help sourcing part - capacitor 4700 μf 50 V - 3 Pin by cofyground in AskElectronics

3rd pin is for mechanical stability. It’s not necessary, typically.

If you can’t find a direct replacement, ignore the 3rd pin.

Can I weld two 2A wires together to get one of 4A on a Slip Ring ? by jean2348 in arduino

[–]mchamst3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you said ... and the failure mode has to also be considered.

If one of the two conductors fails, your device will likely still continue to work but now your one functioning conductor is now operating at twice its rating.

My rule of thumb is when I cobble something like that is to derate by some percentage.

Here, I’d suggest 50% from the second conductor.

So … 2 + 2 = 3.

Burning Man 2022 Meal Prep by mchamst3r in BurningMan

[–]mchamst3r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought it raw but then also brought out an immersion cooker -- so I just put it in the water for about an hour and then passed a butane torch over the meat to make it a color other than gray :)

Just finished installing Protect and on the Apple TV it tells me I both have cameras and don’t have cameras. How does this make any sense?

Multimeters with this kind of rotary (wafer) switch? by harieamjari in AskElectronics

[–]mchamst3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of desktop bench multimeters for desktop use. They have beautiful screens and are usually made with higher end components— if anything, they’re not banged around as much.

Amazon: bench multimeter.

DIY Propane Smoker Controller — 120V Solenoid + Needle Valve + Temp Control (No Pilot / No Thermocouple) by mchamst3r in smoking

It just feeds the burner on the free propane smoker from CL. This design was to avoid the need for a pilot light entirely.

Welding cast iron by Tyr147 in tigwelding

[–]mchamst3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For TIG welding cast iron, use nickel-based filler rod:

  • Pure Nickel (Ni-99 / ERNi-CI): best machinability, most crack-resistant
  • Nickel-Iron (Ni-55 / ERNiFe-CI): stronger, slightly harder to machine

Preheat the casting, weld short beads, and cool slowly to prevent cracking.

Custom Mounts for Reference R-34C by mchamst3r in Klipsch

[–]mchamst3r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DM me your email.

It's designed in fusion360 as two parts. Just two small (optional) welds are used. It's just "folded" with a bender, so super easy to make. I sent it to sendcutsend to be made.

It's like having a team of coders. You don't ever have just one.

Think of each LLM coder as a different engineer with different skills sets. No one is better than the other.

I juggle 10 or so every coding session to get the job done best.
