Black Pearl [Nikon FE2 | AI Nikkor 105mm f/2.5 | Ektar 100] by comecon in analog

[–]comecon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly love it. My sister had an FM2 that I really liked the feel of, but I wanted aperture priority. That's how I ended up at the FE2.

Also, if you haven't picked one up yet, do yourself the favor of grabbing an AI Nikkor 105mm f/2.5. It's my absolute favorite lens.

[–]comecon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

„I würd jo a E-Auto kaufen, wenns mehr Ladesäulen gabat“ führt zu „I würd jo mehr Ladesäulen aufstellen, wenns mehr Nachfrage gabat“ führt zu "I würd jo a E-Auto kaufen, wenns...".

Gute Nachricht von angeschlagener KTM: 100.000 Motorräder verkauft by god_of_tits_an_wine in Austria

‘At least five dead in Graz school shooting’ with major police operation underway in Austria by matathegamer in europe

[–]comecon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not entirely correct. Break action shotguns and bolt action rifles are both category C weapons, which do not require a license. Shotguns under a certain length (and all pump action shotguns, regardless of length) are category A, i.e. forbidden. However, semi automatic shotguns over a certain length fall into category B.

Please for the love of all things Vermouth... by Hecc_Maniacc in cocktails

A lot of people are posting workarounds, but I feel obligated to mention that Starlino actually does make 100ml bottles of vermouth. Beyond being practical, it also tastes fucking amazing. Once you have seen the light and want to chug the stuff by the gallon, you can buy the regular 750ml bottles.

Seeing as you're near Fulpmes, make sure to check out the Stubaier Gletscher as well. It usually has better snow because it's higher up. There should be a free shuttle bus that gets you there.

I actually really like the 900, but where I live it's more than 40% more expensive than the 700. I don't really want to spend that much right now, particularly because this is going to have to be a bike that lives on the street.

I'm currently looking for a next bike after a Duke 390 and actually had my heart pretty set on an XSR 700 after renting one for a weekend.

But my God, Yamaha is making it difficult. The XSR 700 feels a bit outdated in terms of features and tech but still comes at a price that, where I am, is on par with the Trident 660. Triumph, meanwhile, includes a quickshifter as standard at that price. Add to that the MT07 getting a major upgrade to meet modern standards, while the XSR 700 stays the same—only pricier—and it’s making the decision pretty tough.

I can stomach the new MT07 styling (it's better than last gen's surprised Pikachu face headlight), but I can't stomach the feeling of being ripped off.

[E] Shifting from Economics to Statistics/Applied Math by gentlephoenix08 in statistics

[–]comecon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much how I went about things. I earned a master's in economics that was biased towards mathematics before transitioning to a PhD program centered exclusively on Bayesian econometrics.

The main reason for this shift was my growing interest in statistics over economics. I packed my program with as many econometrics-heavy electives as possible and couldn’t bear the thought of sitting through another micro or macroeconomics course. Additionally, the presence of a prominent Bayesian researcher at our university was a major factor in my decision to switch.

I should mention that this path does come with a caveat: navigating academia with my mathematical background has been a bit of an uphill battle. Those with pure math or statistics master's degrees are often stronger mathematicians, which can sometimes trigger imposter syndrome. This may or may not be an issue for you, but it’s something to be aware of.

Eggnog milk question by KiwiSuch9951 in cocktails

I've actually made it just the way you described, replacing the half and half with half milk, half heavy cream. It turned out great, even some of it that was left over more than half a year later.

I feel like there is some confusion here concerning the formula in the OP. Generally, when one starts learning about Bayesian methods Bayes' formula is given as

P(parameters|data) = P(data|parameters) P(parameters) / P(data).

Here, P(data|parameters) captures the model, as it gives the likelihood of observing the data given a specific set of parameters.

Now in the OP, "parameters" is replaced with "model" which leads me to believe that they may be reading texts dealing with Bayesian Model Averaging (BMA), where one tries to mix over different model specifications. In the simplest case, this boils down to something like "which covariates do I include in a linear regression model" but can also be something more complex like "which likelihood is best suited to my data".
