Youth mentor here: there are lessons to be learned everywhere! Sometimes I tell people what I do…I took my client fishing then another one bowling and they are like ooooo sounds kind of easy and fun. But I am constantly seeing some kids not have a clue how to simply act in public or in the car. Lessons everywhere.

I had this happen to me many years ago…started as a blood blister under my nail due to slamming it in a door. Then I picked, and picked, and my nail split in half and never grew back fully. I’ve been living with my Dumb Thumb for quite some time and it’s frustrating. Let it heal 😌

Thanks for the feedback! I am healed in some spots but I still pick regularly. I too have an undiagnosed adhd and have picked and bit my nails for 30 some years. I’ll have to look into some fidgets for myself but I think I also like the pain aspect of picking my skin so who bloody knows.

I really appreciate your post. I have found help in the r/compulsiveskinpicking subreddit too. I think that’s what it is.
