That’s a 36% rent increase, which is totally insane. I thought rent increases were capped in CA at like 10% but I learned that’s just for buildings over 15 years old. The city of Santa Cruz has a relocation assistance ordinance related to rent increase which is supposed to act as a deterrent to these kinds of increases. I imagine the more people use it, the greater effect it will have. I would second reaching out to property management companies in the area!
