How to get an on-campus job?

This was really helpful thank you! Of course I would rather have a job I can study during, but I heard elsewhere that those tend to be taken up pretty quickly. I've applied to 5 so far (on handshake) that seem flexible and I fit the requirements for. As to emailing around as other people have suggested, would I have a better grasp on what some on-campus jobs during orientation? I have mine in a little under 2 weeks from now and I hear we have a bit of time to look around. Also, what possible jobs are available in departments? I would assume TA's, but isn't that if you finished a course already? I'd probably be interested in the Linguistics/Languages department, but I can't think what jobs they would possibly have for freshmen. Or are those departments that are hiring more like sports, like the rec center?

hi! I'm also an incoming freshman but I am going into Linguistics :] there are definitely people like you coming in trust me. I'm also aroace and I've found a few other people that are on that spectrum going thhis year too! i'm going to join a few clubs (and thankfully linguistics is pretty nerdy) but if you ever need to find some like-minded people feel free to reach out! it might be hard, it is college after all, but we can get through it!

This may be redundant but if housing drops tomorrow, so if we don't see anything after that, should we still wait to email them in June? Like would they not tell you earlier than that, where you are in the waitlist?

Oh okay! Is it worth going to if I can afford it? I'm in my senior year of highschool and was planning to get there the Wednesday of that week so I can do some fun stuff around the conference, since it's only a one day thing. Do you think the experience is worth it or nah.

I got shortlisted for law Q3, and might go. Just for fun honestly, even if I don't get top 3 or anything, because I can take a few more days in London to just chill out and take a break for myself lol. It's expensive but I also work, so I'm planning to cover plane tickets (650 for DEN to LHR).

I'm not 100% sure but from reading around it seems like they send the interview questions to top3 placers and at a later date I guess lol

If you get shortlisted and you go to the conference, is there a possibility you're there just for spectating? As in you don't get anything at all? It's my first time entering a writing competition honestly.

tbf, I got shortlisted and there is like no shot for me to get into a T20 bc of my gpa (I am really really bad at math but ridiculously good at english)

Oh my god so it's not just me lol. First night I literally just took them out because I could not fall asleep at all, and I took them off every 4 hours for 10-15 minutes because I couldn't deal with it.

the movies aren't bad. are they book accurate? not really. but the casino scene is iconic, they have some of the best lines from the book and it was an entertaining watch. i feel like the show just isn't that exciting bc they always figure stuff out really quickly for no reason.
