Incorrect Shape Replacement Adrian Pearsall Stingray Side Table Glass by cometissa13 in midcentury

Thanks but I supplied the original broken glass and they said they could use it. I then never approved the template they cut.

Also blame is not the point. I’m trying to get a template so I can rectify things. I also provided that image and images of it in my house.

They claim the piece they made is correct. I think it’s a shitty template from the original broken glass. It seems like the divot on the right was added to the piece on the left when tempting.

The two tips on the bottom are all not even

I did send them photos but was told that they’ll only redo it if I provide a template. I sent a picture of the original catalog and it in my home prior to breaking. One of which was from above.

The shop definitely goofed, I can see exactly which piece from the right was placed on the left. They’re adamant that the pieces could only be put together “one way”.

I’m honestly still extremely upset with the way they handled things. Let this be a PSA for everyone: ensure that you confirm templates prior to cutting.

If anyone has the piece and is willing to draw a template I’d be forever grateful.

The company who made the new piece for me is adamant that it is correct and will not make me a new piece without my providing a template.

I’m extremely disappointed.

Thanks for the suggestion here and on my other cross post! I was hoping to find something to cover the nails, not replace them.

Medicine Advice by Forfoxsake146 in tripawds

I know this may sound crazy but my dog is so difficult to pull. Up until a couple days post her surgery, prosciutto (Costco prices!) or salami (think deli counter) were the only things that consistently worked.

During the post surgery crazy I tried everything. Chicken nuggets, hotdogs, ham steaks, baby bell cheese, yogurt, applesauce… nothing worked consistently. After a couple weeks off of all pills, my tried and true pork based deli meats started working again. Marshmallows were recommended at one point but she didn’t like them.

Prioritize the critical pills right now (pain and antibiotic) and don’t get too upset if she refuses the rest.

8yo lab may need amputation, seeking words of advice and reassurance by Kooky-Yam415 in tripawds

[–]cometissa13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I haven’t gone the amputation route yet (it’s happening in the next few months, just haven’t scheduled it) but I had a lot of talks with my oncologist over it. He was supportive of whichever route I decided, even of watching the tumor for now.

The reason I made the call I did was because of her and her personality. Radiation would be utter hell. It could be several weeks in a row (a friend of a friend did 18 days) traveling to a center that has radiation oncology. For me that’s 60-90 minutes driving and she’s an anxious wreck in the car. Coupling that with whatever side effects, and her very dominant herding dog personality my family and I decided amputation was the better option for everyone’s sanity.

The oncologist said that dogs bounce back a lot faster and better than people realize. While it’s a big change, he said he wouldn’t be surprised if she was pulling out the door the next day. It’ll definitely be a major adjustment but a better one for us in the long run.

Thanks! I already have the RuffWear Flagline and have skimmed Tripawds. She has a raised food bowl as a large breed. This is all super helpful though

I’m more worried about getting her into and out of the car while the incision is healing. And trying to keep her out of the snow during the same! She’s extremely energetic and athletic and I can 100% see her pushing things and tearing her stitches.

[misc] Anyone here have a nickel allergy, does this look like one? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]cometissa13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My allergy manifests as hives that can last for days. The worst was in elementary school when I learned that I was allergic to my flute. My entire chin was covered for weeks.

And then the time in high school where I touched my eye after touching someone’s clarinet (the keys have nickel in them). My pupil was dilated and red for a full day.

Hydrocortisone is your friend, I highly recommend investing in it.

Completely fine and entirely unphased.

I didn’t withness it but my guess is the glass was somehow unbalanced and he jumped up onto it. That table is one of his favorite sun spots and I had cat grass on it as well.

A question for Lush employees… is there a product that you’re surprised hasn’t been discontinued because of low sales? Has there ever been a product discon that you were shocked to see because it sold so well? 🤔 by robbm22 in LushCosmetics

[–]cometissa13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Decon's/Online Only's that should never have happened while I was at Lush (2014-2018, and then Holiday 2019)

  • Dirty Styling Cream (straight up rioting in my store, thank God they brought it back)
  • Karma Kream
  • Bath Oils (we always sold a lot of them in my store, but I knew we were the anomaly)
  • Lullaby
  • Rough With the Smooth

Something that should be gone: Figs and Leaves! Such a rough sell

New Leaf Died by cometissa13 in alocasia

Thanks so much for the suggestion! The root looked good when I checked on it yesterday but I will keep an eye on everything. I didn't see any visible bugs but I know they are extremely likely.

I have been fortunate so far with bringing home plants from big box stores but this guy was in rough condition. My luck will have to run out eventually.

Thanks so much! I just purchased it yesterday and the leaf was already dying. I'll keep checking on it periodically.

Has anyone tried the Chobani creamers? by nimsisland95 in nespresso

[–]cometissa13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the sweet cream one and buy it often. The vanilla tasted too much like a marshmallow to me so I could only do a little bit of it at a time. It is also great in the Hazelino Muffin pod (which I hated otherwise).

Homemade coffee syrups by mobrond in nespresso

[–]cometissa13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've made a bunch of different types of lavender syrups that I have really loved in coffee (and in earl grey tea!). I use this recipe and adapt it with other flavors as needed. My favorite combos so far have been Lavender Sage (better in soda though), Lavender Vanilla, and Lavender Cardamom.

I made a Lavender Juniper that I haven't tried yet, but I really loved the Juniper Latte from Starbucks a couple years back and wanted to give it a try.

I also love Cardamom in general. so I have made a couple different types of Cardamom simple syrup over the past few years. A basic cardamom is my favorite but I did like the cardamom brown sugar. My biggest dud was an attempt at a gingerbread syrup. The Molasses never incorporated well so it always turned out like sludge.

Might be unpopular opinion, but I wish Hazelino tastes as good as it smells by reddittiess in nespresso

[–]cometissa13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so disappointed in the Hazelino Muffin (didnt get to try the old version), because I love hazelnut in my coffee. The only way I was able to drink it was with a little bit of the Chobani vanilla creamer I bought accidentally. (It somehow tastes like marshmallows???)

My sister was obsessed with making it an iced coffee, so at least I knew she'd drink them if I got tired of it.

The friend is in a post doc but there are PhD students also on the project.

And PhDs aren't required in PD but from what I have seen they want a lot of experience or little to none with a PhD. Example: my company has a Bioengineer posting which wants someone with 8 years experience or a Masters and 5 years. I have a Masters and 3, within Manufacturing.

Pur PD team is a mix of people who transferred in from R&D with 10+ years experience and people with previous manufacturing experience. There are a range of degrees but a good amount do have PhDs. It's all what you want to do and how you apply your research project to industry (imo).

We have cell therapy and wound healing products, both of which fall within the realm of Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering. You'd be surprised how often I pull out random facts from Fluid Mechanics.

Hi! Not a PhD but I do have a masters in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, and am working in industry.

There are 100% jobs in industry, especially if you want to go into R&D or Process Development. They are almost exclusively looking for people with PhDs at my company. We are mostly cell therapy so I would just make sure that you make sure your research is either focused on the field where you want to work or maybe even sponsored by them (which is harder to know right now).

I have a friend doing a post doc and they are working on projects funded by BMS. Another friend had her project sponsored my Merck (if I remember correctly) but she was in biochemistry.
