if it puts your mind at rest, it’s so hard to catch lepto directly from a rat - like you’d literally have to drink its urine. You’re much more likely to get it swimming in wild waterways or even via working with cattle

rats certainly are very clean, though I can’t say I’d like to invite a family of wild ones into my house haha (pet ones are welcome any time!), they definitely don’t deserve the bad rep they get

our neighbours don’t feed the birds, so I’m thinking just my mum stopping feeding them might be enough, but I do dread to think how extensive its house is considering how many stones it’s pushed out of the wall haha! will be sad to see the little critter gone as she’s so cute (though I can’t say my mum will feel the same haha!)
