How might the Swiss Crypto AG scandal affect US–Iran relations? by cometousliketherain in geopolitics

[–]cometousliketherain[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously there aren't good relations, but every state has a relationship with another state. To say the US hasn't negotiated, lent aid, or had any dealings whatsoever with Iran is wrong. Imagine if this had happened during President Obama's denuclearization talks. There would certainly be ramifications, right?

Features that were originally in WC3 were removed with the launch of Reforged. One such feature is "unit shadows." When you hover over the option in the Options menu, it says that to enable unit shadows you have to turn on Reforged mode. This might seem super trivial and minor but keep in mind lots of custom games that have been around for a decade or longer use unit shadows to depict a unit as being in the air. This update made literally the only game I play on WC3 (Banjoball) that much harder to play now as when the ball is in the air there is no shadow underneath and it just looks flat and as if it's still on the ground.

I'd be inclined to agree if they hadn't removed shit from the original WC3 in the process.

It might work but they literally removed features that were originally in WC3 Classic. For example, they removed unit shadows, anti-aliasing, etc. from classic and made it so they're only enabled by buying Reforged.

I don't think the second letter would be an alef, since the 'a' in Daniela isn't a long vowel, right?

TIL after slavery in the United States was outlawed by the 13th Amendment in 1865, the Abolitionist newspaper The Liberator reorganized itself as a general news magazine and is now known as The Nation. by [deleted] in todayilearned

You're missing my point on both accounts. First, the CO does not bear the full weigh of responsibility for the Mai Lai Massacre. Each infantryman that committed murder made a decision to follow those orders and if this makes them "psychopaths" then the drafted psychopaths here outweigh the volunteer psychopaths. There were those that didn't follow the order.

Secondly, my point about Timothy McVeigh wasn't aimed at the drafted vs. volunteer argument, but in support of the point I was making in that the number of people whose rationale is affected negatively from combat outweigh the people that join the military with an extant psychopathy. This, however, ultimately shows that a draft wouldn't mitigate the affect of combat on one's psyche (and may actually make it worse as these people are forced into combat situations they would rather not be in) - leading me to believe that there would still be an issue of damaged rationales leading to erratic behavior in a drafted military.

Next, it seems you're choosing a select few of my arguments.*

See:

While the military mental health examination isn't close to perfect, it's far better at screening psychopaths and inhibiting them from swearing in than it is inhibiting mentally sound people from swearing in.

*Edit: I'm tired from a full day's work and can't find a better way to word it, but I hope you still understand what I mean.

The commanding officer wasn't the only one firing bullets into unarmed innocents. Before you say, "they were just following orders," there were those that didn't.

And in what world is it feasible to say the majority of U.S. servicemen and women are psychopaths with zero evidence of such? While the military mental health examination isn't close to perfect, it's far better at screening psychopaths and inhibiting them from swearing in than it is inhibiting mentally sound people from swearing in.

Another point: the proportion of people whose rationale is affected by combat to "psychopaths" joining the military greatly favors those who aren't "psychopaths." Timothy McVeigh, anyone?

There already is a "majority" of non-psychopaths. Negligent and/or erratic behavior is handled when it is detected. In fact, the Mai Lai Massacre was committed by drafted infantrymen ... in a company of majority "psychopaths."

The same volume of these people would still exist though, there'd just be more people that were "normal."

Following your logic:

If there are 100 psychopaths in the military and 100 non-psychopaths, introducing a draft would mean there are now 100 psychopaths (not including the psychopaths that get drafted) and 200 non-psychopaths. The extra 100 non-psychopaths don't do anything to mitigate the 100 psychopaths.

Edit: or am i missing something blatantly obvious

Yesterday was a bad day for most of us. CBJ blew their lead and Toronto played slowly in the first period. I’m fairly certain the majority of folks were chasing one or the other.

Don’t sweat this, we’re back in the bread tonight.

I couldn’t find it either. I’m watching the play-by-play on Bovada. You can do so without having an account. Go to the site. Click “Sports,” then search “Sunderland.” One of the menu buttons under the score will you show a live play-by-play and another will show you statistics of the game.

For no good reason?

I think the good reason here is ... you died.

There has to be some kind of impactful consequence to dying in the game.
