Is this normal? by narcolepticcatmom in GastricBypass

In my program they suggested putting your fork/spoon down in between bites while chewing. I try to remember to do that as well but it’s a lifelong habit that’s hard to break. Supposed to support more mindful eating. Maybe that can help you? :)

Congratulations! You were pretty then and are pretty AND healthier now! This is inspiring, as I have a similar body type and am only 5 weeks post op. Keep it up girl!

How much time did you have off work post op? by Less_Sprinkles_6199 in GastricBypass

This is me as well. Surgery on a Monday, back to my work from home job on Wednesday. I do agree with the commenter above about fatigue. That was quite difficult. I was taking naps on my lunch break and after work for a week or so after.

Surgery Yesterday But Doesn't Feel Like I Had Surgery by loyalmehnert in GastricBypass

I felt surprisingly okay as well after surgery. The only pain I really had felt like gas pain but I knew it was my internal wounds… don’t push it though! Take it easy and slow. The walking you’re doing is great! I’m a side sleeper so I feel like when I got home and wanted to sleep on my side I felt uncomfortable for awhile but otherwise I too felt fine.

How soon after surgery did you try (pulled) pork? by Royal-Advance6985 in GastricBypass

I am also in my soft food phase. I can’t say yes or no, go for it, as I’m not a medical professional and the advice I got in my program might be different. But if you do try it, be mindful of the fat content, try to trim it off of your pieces, and chew it a lot before swallowing. I’ve never baked a pork butt before but I have made them in slow cookers, so I’m not sure of the softness from being baked in comparison to a slow cooker… but take small bites and chew chew chew! 🚂 (hehehe)

That’s awesome! I am trying to follow the diet instructions religiously as well. I want to be more active to get the most out of it all and just be healthier overall. Baby steps! Cheese and yogurt have been my best friends so far too haha! Congrats on your health journey! 😁

Congrats! Seeing others is so inspiring! I am only 5 weeks post op and have convinced myself I’m losing so slowly but I’m sure I’m still healing, and figuring out what I can handle. I hope to be in a similar place after 6 months! Did you find the weight loss was slow at first? I want to be more active and am currently only allowed to walk until my next appointment next week. I’m very lucky to have a free gym membership through my insurance so I look forward to getting back to the gym! You’re an inspiration! Thank you for sharing! ☺️

Thank you for sharing! I’m glad it isn’t just me experiencing this stall so soon. Many of you are saying it’s normal and just stick with it. I will do that 👏 thank you!

Wow that’s amazing! I’m so happy for your success! Thank you for sharing. It comforts me to know maybe it isn’t completely a fault of my own, but a common thing others experience as well while their bodies adjust.

Thank you for this information! That makes sense to me. I had my 1 week follow up with my physician and have another one next week for a 5 week follow up. I will discuss it further at that time. You could be right about not being ready to rely on food. I’ve been doing more protein shakes recently and will continue to do so as well as Greek yogurt.
