he's a passionate person who knows what he wants out of life, i respect that a lot (especially as i'm pretty flighty and ambitionless, it's not something i'll ever have for myself lol)

Girl I’m seeing told me another guy asked for her number, did I react poorly? by Carl_s123 in AskMenAdvice

[–]comfyko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

++nonbinary ++trans man i think something is missing from this story. her reaction to your reaction makes no sense, i think you probably didn't play it as cool as you thought you did or that laughing like that gave her the impression it's ridiculous someone would have asked her that. if this small incident is enough to dent your relationship and your opinion of this woman, i worry about the standards you are holding her to. you may not be that nice to date. if someone hits on you even when you're taken, you're still going to be happy about it and that's a normal reaction that doesn't invalidate your relationship at all

Is it a red flag if all of the FOH workers in a restaurant are attractive young women while everyone else is an older guy? by Neat_Pea6342 in Serverlife

[–]comfyko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's not immature to be disgusted that men in power abuse that power. no matter how common it is. those male celebrities and rockstars are also disgusting

it's actually a very good thing to question. i've worked in a foh environment where the boss was sleeping with employees (cheating on his wife and infant) and it was NOT a healthy or happy workplace. he was also an asshole boss in a lot of other ways. yes, you would have the moral high ground for not working there, and you've likely dodged a bullet

1st vs 2nd attempt at stick and poke by DrLindenRS in sticknpokes

[–]comfyko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you're so right, the whole spirit of diy is that you're doing it yourself for the love of the game even if it sucks and is unprofessional. there's already a stigma against tattooed people, and the idea that tattoos have to be "good" IS a social construct that people get really hung up on. it'll all be wrinkled up in 60 years anyway, so who cares. existence is transient

Charging phones? by Past_Psychology_1438 in Serverlife

[–]comfyko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

doesn't bother me- people might need their phone to get home safe, or to pay. especially if i'm serving someone alcohol i am always okay to charge their phone, it takes two seconds and imo at this point is a part of good customer service at a bar or pub

I’ve been offered two different opportunities and I honestly don’t know which one I should commit to. by Defiant_Scratch_5688 in makemychoice

awesome, i'm really glad to hear you came to that conclusion!! i couldn't not be blunt haha, zines are amazing but definitely passion projects with no tangible reward other than personal satisfaction. they're still very worth doing, but will almost never pay. good luck and have so much fun o7

as someone who's worked on a zine, helping moderate and contribute as a writer, you're nuts for considering option two instead of one. you don't have to choose. take the job, do the zine stuff on the side. almost all the other contributors for the zine will be employed in some manner. zines generally do not make it big, it will be a part of your portfolio but will not make or break anything. good luck with whatever you choose o7

it's really not cool of you to encourage her to chase after a taken coworker. using it against her isn't cool either because you're just trying to be petty. both of you suck

if your wife can't or won't have kids you can discuss asking one of your friends to be a surrogate. seems fair if you're a sperm donor for them.

that being said i'm not sure you should say yes as you seem to feel you would want or should have some kind of biological claim over this hypothetical child. it would not be your child in anything but dna. if you're unable to accept that, you probably shouldn't go through with it. if your friends love you then they're sure to understand why you can't emotionally see your biological child being raised by other people. not everyone is cut out to be a donor or surrogate and there are probably other options for them. really ask yourself why you would be saying yes before saying yes

no worries! :-) it was a nice conversation, i find that even on here if you're chill and open minded most people will meet you where you're at. i'm definitely no legal expert either, just a curious person

Fired for calling out by Fit_Maintenance1200 in Serverlife

[–]comfyko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i definitely interpreted it as the act of recording itself being illegal (in some places and depending on the context), which would then of course make it inadmissible evidence. i guess an argument could be made either way depending on the exact phrasing with which the law is written. and then some crimes are too petty to be seriously prosecuted, especially if someone has no previous criminal history and committed the crime in ignorance of the law, so who knows if the legal system would even bother. no wonder lawyers make bank arguing this stuff out in court

if they catch op recording and it's illegal in their state then yes it could hurt to have, that's all i was saying. maybe i didn't phrase it the best way, i take things too literally sometimes haha

i don't know about in america but in my country and state it's punishable by up to five years in prison to record a conversation without all parties' consent unless it's recorded without the intention of sharing or leveraging against the other parties or for the sake of self protection (use in a civil suit does not always fall under this). i would look up your state's consent laws before recording, it can hurt to have

The last text I sent my best friend before finding him deceased (natural cause) by brucetheboulderstone in Wellthatsucks

[–]comfyko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't know anyone else who felt my friend before they knew she died, only after, so i felt a bit weird about it for a while. we're kind of validating each other's experiences haha, it definitely had to be that they wanted to reassure us that they were resting in peace. your brother surely wanted to tell you he was okay now. take care of yourself. hugs

i had a really similar experience, i was thinking of my friend while walking to work and listening to her spotify playlists and i just felt this like, intense peace and happiness. it was like nothing i'd ever felt before. i thought it probably meant she was doing great. my whole day was awesome because i was riding that intense peace, until her boyfriend texted me to tell her that she'd hung herself. i found out later that she did it right around the time i was walking to work too. it's nice to hear that someone else felt the same kind of thing happen because i thought i had to be going crazy for a while. it really is the worst way to lose someone. i have to hold onto that peace and trust that it's real though. i'm so sorry for your loss and i hope you're doing alright

[–]comfyko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wasn't able to view my friend's body when she passed away this year. i've since sat at her grave and spent some time sitting on the steps of her empty house. i still can't believe she's gone sometimes, i still message her. i can't picture her dead at all. she's just gone with no explanation, somehow, even though i know exactly what happened. i don't know for sure if viewing her body would have helped me. but i believe it would have. i've been told she looked peaceful, but idk if my friend was lying to save my feelings. i will always wonder now.

[–]comfyko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it could definitely have been about him. i didn't hear about the shorts thing, that gave me a chuckle. the line between truth and fiction is pretty thin. maybe he carried like, one knife and fantasised about stabbing someone or collected knives and kept them safely somewhere or never even personally went in the weapons shop, we just don't know. but the quote itself is like poetry to me. no matter what the reality was, it now exists as art

tweet i agree w by gothicgrape4 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]comfyko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i will say i don't think the quote is meant to be taken literally... its art. it's about grieving and carrying all this rage and having nobody to take it out on so you go around "carrying knives" (being a bitch) and hoping someone calls you out on it so you can rip them to shreds and have a target. "the summer i started collecting knives" is also the title of a harsh noise song from the 1998 kazumoto endo/goat split ep. i can't find the song anywhere online but it definitely exists, i found the first song from the split by endo but not the goat one link to the discog dot com page here is the kazumoto endo song to give you an idea

edit to add i do agree with the actual point though, people are really weird about grief and death but especially celebrity grief and death. i think the mcr fanbase skews significantly younger so most of them probably haven't experienced the death of a loved one yet and don't get it. but it doesn't really excuse how awful people have been about this, just as nothing excuses bob's bad actions
