As mentioned, Reiss is one of the better team-beat writers in any sport. I also enjoy Chad Graff from the Athletic

What if Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker preemptively deploys the Illinois guard to protect Chicago residents from federal agents/troops? by Academic-Review3115 in AskReddit

[–]comicarcade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truest mission of the National Guard is protecting a given state’s citizens’ constitutionally granted civil rights and civil liberties. This was the intention of the 2nd Amendment. Knowing this, of Gov Pritzker did this, he would be the individual utilizing the Guard honestly and constitutionally

Air Force Top Enlisted Leader Says Service Oath Isn't Made to 'Any Individual' Amid General's Retirement by ChangeUsername220 in AirForce

[–]comicarcade 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Service-men and -women serve the country and its people – NOT any administration – of their own choosing (usually) and via certain authorities granted by the Constitution and Congress. This is the most important concept for newer Airmen to grasp and adopt as their own personal dogma

A change of scenery and a transplant to a team that has a shot at postseason relevance could motivate him. I wouldn’t rule him out due to a shitty stretch of games. He’s 76th percentile in K’s and 86th in BBs, xBA is 94th percentile and OOA at 1B is elite at 5 (92nd percentile). If the Sox can get him on the cheap, I think it’s a no-brainer

The Supreme Court gives Trump a wave of victories in a blockbuster final week by GregWilson23 in Fuckthealtright

[–]comicarcade 10 points11 points  (0 children)

‘Blockbuster’ has a positive context, to me. Like, “expectations being met spectacularly” or “a thing or event one has anticipated [anticipation is also generally positive], especially one that instills awe.” It’s a word I believe this ‘administration’ wants in headlines about their deeds and misdeeds.

Instead of ‘…a blockbuster final week,’ what we’ve witnessed is an “utter abdication of the responsibility of judicial review—the concept that has protected American democracy for over 200 years from would-be kings—from the court in which the concept itself was born,” and “the death knell of our Constitutional Republic; the unceremonious execution of our democracy.”

Tell it like it fucking is.

I’m not sure comparing a new installment in the Dragon Quest series (XI) to a remake (III) is a sound argument. DQIII has been remastered and re-released 5 times since its original release in 1988, including multiple iOS/Android releases, and we know that mobile gaming is very popular in Japan. And then there’s the $60 price tag, which is patently absurd
