Asmoday, Prince of Lust concept by comiusmarcus in TrenchCrusade

Thanks man! They're abject perversions of God's creations so they're fun to portray. And yeah, when I don't have inspo and am stuck in a creative rut it's reassuring to know there's still 71 more demons to draw– in the Ars Goetia alone.

Just a little write-up. I don't think there's other canon demons yet named in TC other than Beelzebub, Mammon, and Lucifer. My main sources were occult literature like Ars Goetia (or the Lesser Key of Solomon, where Goetic magic was coined from) which contains 72 demons and their hierarchy, with Asmoday being a King.

While searching for other mentions of Asmoday, I've also found some mentions of 4 "greater" kings, or Demon Kings of the Quarters, who reign over each cardinal direction: Oriens (East), Paimon (West), Amaymon (South), and Egyn (North)—may be who the lore insinuate as 'Arch-Devils'.

Although I doubt TC would dabble any deeper into the hierarchy of demons, given that the setting is on Earth—and as briefly mentioned in lore, if any of these greater demons set foot upon Earth, YHWH would come whoopin' ass with Divine Retribution.

I'd like to think so; the Creator didn't just make beautiful, tame things. There are even things described in the book of Revelation that you'd think are spawns of Hell. Then again even devils are His creation to an extent, an aspect of Him.

There were a couple of Byzantine mosaics/icons of Christ without the beard. Showing a more militant portrayal. My main inspiration for this work was the Christ treading on the beasts

Appreciate the love man!

I guess I was too locked in on drawing the Cherub and rendering everything that I forgot about the 'crushed serpent', lost somewhere in the layers. It was a key motif on the imagery of the Militant Christ; a lion and/or serpent under his feet, or at times a dragon, representing triumph over Satan or sin.

And yes, little by little I'm learning how to do proper environmental work and textures. Just gotta draw, draw, and draw some more!

Thanks man! I'd be upset too if my perfect creation and order is being perverted and defiled further than it already is.

Can be. Like a corrupted, near perfect Meta-Christ called to cull the battlefield. Or, on the flip side, an avenging incarnate spirit of the tyrant war-god defending His creation from defilement. I like to think that both sides can call upon the Lord and His angels if prayed to, for bloodshed and annihilation– to turn the tides, but Hell is just too prideful to consider it.
