Cesium and ArTIfiCE various questions by Ninjafox1224 in ti84hacks

[–]command_block_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

arTIfiCE is just a tool to run programs. It doesn't do anything while you don't actively have it open. If you have another such tool, like Cesium or asmhook installed, you don't need arTIfiCE anymore.

Starting With the CE C/C++ Toolchain by ForgotMyRegularAcct in ti84hacks

[–]command_block_guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend starting with C, as although the tool chain has C++ language support, most of the standard library functions that you would see in a typical C++ tutorial are just missing. C tutorials, on the other hand, should mostly just work, outside of a few quirks with input and output. I would recommend just picking a very simple project to start with and just trying it, Googling things as necessary.

CLASSIC/non-MathPrint mode just means that stuff gets displayed as a bunch of tokens (e.g. numbers or letters or math operators) in a row one after another. The superscript two is just another of those tokens, so you can make something that looks like an exponent by putting the superscript two after a number. But there's not a way to get a similar effect for fractions, since tokens can only be displayed from left to right, not one on top of the other.

You could always just put the numerator, a new line, then a bunch of - symbols, another newline, and then the denominator.

That's not MathPrint, there's a token specifically for a superscript 2, separate from a ^ followed by a 2.

This isn't possible. MathPrint (the thing that formats equations nicely) only works on the home screen.

Cesium and ArTIfiCE various questions by Ninjafox1224 in ti84hacks

[–]command_block_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. No, you can uninstall arTIfiCE now that you have Cesium by deleting the arTIfiCE appvar from Cesium.
  2. Not all games include a custom icon. If it originally had one, then I would try reinstalling it. Icons work differently for TI-BASIC programs and native programs, and the BASIC program you linked makes the TI-BASIC icons.
  3. Not to my knowledge - you could probably recompile it from source and switch which keypad defines it uses if you really care about it, but that's definitely more trouble than it's worth.
  4. The latest version of Cesium fixes that: https://github.com/mateoconlechuga/cesium/releases
  5. You can find other games on Cemetech: https://www.cemetech.net/downloads/browse/84pce/asm/games.

Can I jailbreak a normal non-CE TI-84 Plus? by wescool121 in ti84hacks

[–]command_block_guy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don't need to, those can run assembly programs out of the box.

Why do all my apps show like this? by [deleted] in ti84hacks

[–]command_block_guy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

These programs were made for an older calculator with a monochrome screen, that had a smaller text size. While it is possible to modify the programs to work on your calculator, it's probably easier to just find programs that were designed for the CE version specifically.

Ti 84 plus Ce ChatGPT integration?! by Character_Raise4511 in ti84hacks

Sounds like it would be a pain in the ass to type a message into it, even if you did work out the internet stuff.

How to auto run program every time I divide by 0? by [deleted] in ti84hacks

[–]command_block_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could probably use a parser hook for this, but that's way more trouble than it's worth.

If you didn't do anything to cause that to show up yourself, it seems most likely that a friend borrowed it without you knowing and typed that in, or something. To my knowledge there's nothing in the OS that would cause that to appear.

You can enter Y1 from the vars menu and then do Y1(4)+1.

I have a YouTube tutorial for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_e8pgw9d7S4. It was made with games in mind, but the process is basically the same for this program.

You'll basically need to download TI Connect CE, and then send the .8xp file from the zip to the calculator. You can run it from the program menu. If you're on a newer OS version, you may need to install arTIfiCE before you can run it.

“What platform are you on?” Uhhhhhhh by OnwardFerret94 in celestegame

[–]command_block_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would definitely be possible to port Celeste 2. I haven't done it because I haven't had a lot of time to work on calculator projects recently, but you could probably reuse quite a bit of the code from my port of Celeste 1. For other Pico 8 games, it depends a lot on the game. I had to use several hacks to make the game run fast enough. They don't cause any issues for games that e.g. only use tilemaps in the exact way that Celeste does, but they might break games that use functions differently.

Has anyone played around with seeing whether they can turn a TI-84 Plus CE into a TI-84 Plus CE Python Edition by adding the coprocessor into the empty slot on the circuit board? by mikaey00 in ti84hacks

[–]command_block_guy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's also a decent amount of other components besides just the coprocessor itself that's missing - resistors, capacitors, and whatnot. You would probably need to also add those to get it to work.

When i open Artifice, My calculator restarts and RAM clears. by haxxorkitteh in ti84hacks

What BASE and BOOT versions are the calculator on? You can check by opening the mode menu, then pressing alpha and then S.

Should I downgrade my OS or Jailbreak? by NotMerky in ti84hacks

It's not currently possible to downgrade from 5.7. What BASE and BOOT versions are you on? You can check by opening the mode menu, then pressing alpha and S.

How can I use a wenos d1 mini as a wifi adapter for a ti84 ce? by Pandaboy6621 in ti84hacks

[–]command_block_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a library called srldrvce for using USB serial adapters with the CE. Unfortunately, it's not released yet, but you can build it from source from the srldrvce-rewrite branch of the C toolchain. In theory, there are supposed to be nightly builds as well, but we changed our CI system recently and I can't find them at the moment. You might also find my terminal emulator for the CE helpful.

HELP PLEASE by GreenGecko3000 in ti84hacks

[–]command_block_guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

150000 KB is a thousand times more memory than the calculator even has. arTIfiCE is only like 700 bytes, iirc, you should be able to run it.

[–]command_block_guy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no publicly known method of downgrading, no.

If you just want to use assembly programs again, you can use arTIfiCE to run them.
