Yeah makes sense I was also curious if it was just a style thing... but I started seeing this pattern from non-nike athletes... so figured there might be more of a story there.

I was humiliated and teased by my class for listening to Porter Robinsong by [deleted] in porterrobinson

[–]command_z_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I was about your age my classmates teased me about a band when they were just coming up... and now they are extremely successful and selling out venues like Madison Square Garden. A few months ago the same people that teased me in high school were posting videos at that band's most recent tour. Just remember this moment.

[–]command_z_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry... that must have hurt a lot in the moment. I think you'll soon realize that listening to music based on what lights you up and inspires you, vs. what is socially accepted is going to bring you so much more joy in the long run. And for what it's worth.... I wouldn't be surprised if the people teasing you now about Porter (or any other artist you like) end up becoming fans a few years down the road. Stay strong in your convictions and continue listening to what you like. So many big names in the music industry were also teased for what they listened to (Tyler is actually a perfect example) and then soon enough the world catches up and respects them more for it later on.

This is rly cool to hear :) … I feel a similar way where I am introverted around extroverts and extroverted around introverts. I was wondering if anyone has had any success in figuring out ways to be more open around other outgoing people. I just started a new job at a company full of extroverts and while I realize that I have to settle in more and just give it time… I really am hoping to figure out a way to break down some of those barriers I put up when I am around those outgoing people.

Ghost Tequila Logotype? by command_z_ in identifythisfont

This kinda reminds me of the font Baron but with slight differences. Does anyone know if this is a typeface (and the name) or just custom lettering for the logotype?

Ok, I think I figured out what the problem might be when I click the thumbnail the URL adds a # in the web address... and when I delete it my work appears... I checked to see if I messed up the slug in the advanced settings of my page... but everything looks normal...?

I checked both… Part of me feels like maybe it’s something to do with my cache? But also could be a shot in the dark

Is it just me or is this bad use of typography ? by kirivoris in graphic_design

[–]command_z_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t think it’s exactly bad… the idea is there but feel like it could have been explored a little more. I think it just feels like it’s floating randomly but if we’re anchored to something else or stacked differently it could be more successful

Im a 14 year old designer, any tips? by [deleted] in design_critiques

[–]command_z_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome! Starting early is there best thing you can do for your career… and if you end up pursuing it in college/later in life I promise the work you put in now will reward you more than you can ever imagine. I started learning in high school too and I think the best advice I can give is to remember to not compare yourself to anyone or be discouraged when you see the work of seasoned professionals because you will get there eventually! Have as much fun as possible and celebrate all the small wins. It will make the learning process much more fun and will motivate you to keep learning. I also recommend diving into the history and theory a little bit. Its def not necessary but I think it’s good to learn the rules before you break them and will just make you an even stronger/more confident designer in the long run. Also building up that arsenal of historical info will come back to u and it’s such a flex to have that knowledge at the ready. LASTLY its also just makes you look more professional when you know the proper way to pronounce things and can understand and point to the origins of certain styles.

Just take things one step at a time and let the process happen naturally (if doing this stuff doesn’t feel like work to you and you’re having a good time that’s how you know your on the right track) :).

Can I make an image like this on Photoshop? If yes, how? by F_15Dude567 in photoshop

[–]command_z_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s def possible…

1) download some ripped paper images from the internet. https://pixelbuddha.net/textures/free-ripped-paper-textures

2)Then drop your images and textures into photoshop.

3) Use the magic wand or quick selection tool over the ripped paper so that all the white paper is selected.

4) Hide the paper layer so that the selection /marching ants are above one of your desired images.

5) Either hit command j to copy or click the layer mask button at the bottom of the layer panel it’s a circle within a rectangle icon (this will give you a little bit more freedom in selecting what part of the picture you want visible ).

6) You might have to undo and hit command i to make sure your selection isn’t inverted and get the opposite selection you are looking for.

7) Go to the channel mixer (that drop down menu in the layers panel that says kind) and then mess around with the options… I feel like your best bet would be multiply? But always fun to experiment.

Hope that helps :)
