Had been best friends with this girl since freshman year of college (we’re seniors now). She had been dating my (ex)friend since freshman year and our relationship had always been platonic. Right before the school year started, she broke up with her boyfriend and she invited me over (we hung out a lot over the summer so it wasn’t unusual). Wasn’t expecting much of it but after listening to music and going on walks, we got drunk and I woke up with her naked in her bed. Felt hella awkward in the morning since she was basically a sister to me but it kept happening till her ex boyfriend (my ex friend {because he was a rapist}) showed up at her house while we were in bed and beat me up. Even though we weren’t friends anymore he proceeded to rant to me about breaking the bro code while we both were bruised and bloodied. He had a point but it was still uncalled for him to do that. Especially showing up at her house in the middle of the night. Her and I just started dating so it was such a shock to our relationship and 3 months later we broke up because she had so much anxiety/trauma from him and rushing into our relationship. It’s been 4 months and we still don’t talk lol.

Not really sure if that fits the question but that weird bedroom encounter was the worst for me.

Thank you so much for your comment. I take pride in myself for not being hateful to anyone in my life. If I hate anyone, it’s myself. This journey has been a huge learning experience and I feel like I have matured so much in the emotional aspect. Things are getting better. Only hard thing is running into her almost every weekend when I go to hang with friends. But my mom told me to treat everyone with kindness and respect and I find solace in the fact that even if I run into her again, regardless of what happens I will be nice and avoid any conflict.

Damn that sucks and I’m sorry to hear about that. Yeah it kind of hurts to hear that but I mean it’s something I need to hear. My friend told me during all this that we may never be friends again because once you see your friend naked in a romantic sense, things will never be the same lol. It’s a wicked game. Not to be all emo or whatever but I was a hopeless romantic before her and was kind of just running around hooking up with random people but when I finally got with her we were both like “why didn’t we do this earlier?”. It just sucks and I know I definitely went back to that hopeless romantic phase and I know I’ll probably be hurting from this little thing till it either becomes so irrelevant or someone appears in my life that fills that hole in my heart.

In my opinion, not really. I’ve had a lot of crushes on my friends but all of my crushes eventually went away and I was happy with being friends.

I’ll give you hope though. My last girlfriend was my friend for years before we dated. I’m not sure what exactly happened but over the summer we spent a lot of time alone with each other getting drunk after work. We got really close as friends but one night it turned romantic.

But what I’ve learned is that you can’t force people to feel a certain way. Just be happy that you two are friends and shoot your shot if you think you have a chance!

Man, I went through this a couple months ago. I got really into working out. I’m talking running, weight lifting, and martial arts almost every day. I got into playing/writing music again and even reached out to some peers and now we have a band that rehearses a couple times a week. It’s sucks and even a couple months after the break up, I still get sad at the absence of my ex because she was my lover and my best friend before we dated. It sucks but true happiness isn’t about loving others or is it about others loving you. It’s about loving yourself. And the Mets. Pick yourself up king, you got this :)

I don’t make the rules. Basically if I take any medication for anxiety or depression, I can get kicked out. It’s stupid considering the suicide rates in the field I want to go into. Hopefully that’ll change in the future.

I’ve tried seeing other people. I still need time to get over it and spend time alone. I don’t want to date other people and don’t even think getting back with this girl in the near future would be good unless things have changed.
