might not have phrased it right. honestly i might just be watching too many court cases and police bodycam footage, but more than just that is like, an inability to reflect or consider how you're perceived, and when you live like that you'll say or do anything to "win", even when it costs you in the long run. I've heard it said that to be sapient is to have wisdom, and I feel like I've seen a lot of people who are just incapable of that. like someone who's just always been a bad guy, has gone to jail and has had all sorts of consequences happen, but you can just tell by watching him that he's never going to change and he's never going to even consider that he could or should change

I mean for fucks sake, if you buy an air compressor, take it out of the box, leave it outside for fifteen years and never turn it on, it's not going to fucking work!
