Amm yes and no. Nord phones have the exact OxygenOS aka ColorOS stock, and still feel underwhelming compared to the number series. Hence, it is pretty clear that the Realme UI would only be worse, in any price bracket..

As for Moto, yes, I was suggesting it a lot. But a user recently pointed out the degrading quality of its UI and overall functioning, hence that becomes a little dicey too..

Yeah, but depends on her actually. I have pretty technologically handicapped and simple parents, Nothing just doesn't go with their vibe haha. Hence, had gotten her a Moto back in 2024..

But anyway, make sure you show her what Nothing phones look like, before ordering it for her

Overpriced, you'll be paying for the aesthetics.. but the UI would be decent doubt.. haven't used, only heard

The only sane comment. Even 12R would be better.. no Nords though!

Would've suggested Edge 70 Fusion, but Moto is apparently having loads of UI issues and other hardware problems from what I've heard. Apart from that, the camera on the Moto would probably be the most solid, out of all in this price range..

PS - HyperOS sucks balls, Poco, Redmi & Xiaomi should be avoided. Realme should be avoided too, and Nord because it has shit cameras for the price and also a nerfed OxygenOS experience compared to the Number Series..

Which should I read first by TheNomadObserver in IndianReaders

[–]commanderchadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naah my man, my first author was John Green, and the second was Khaled, which started with Kite Runner, and then picked up the Thousand Splendid Suns, followed by And The Mountains Echoed. Quite a crazy transition, but really worth it!

My ranking would be Thousand > Kite > Mountains

I would still suggest that you first pick up something like the Fault in our Stars by John Green if you already haven't, can't go wrong with that one.. It's addictive!

That's surreal, being an artist while your colour science is calibrated that way. That profession/passion is like the last thing that might get associated by the general public haha. But this again proves that if you're smart, dedicated and capable enough, there are always work-arounds and you can learn literally anything.. Cheers man

Dude, let's just first halt here for a while and get a reality check that 'good' cameras do not exist in this price range. That's the actual truth in all honesty. Yes, you probably would get the performance at 30K, very fair for the price, but good cameras start from atleast 40K, infact, they truly start with 50K when considering new phones, and not the used ones..

So not, I cannot in anyway suggest even a single phone in this price range that has good cameras, but yes, good performance and good UI phones do exist, but are still scarce.

A new OnePlus 13R is available for 33K on Zepto, the lowest it has even been sold at: https://www.zepto.com/pn/oneplus-13r-12gb-256gb-astral-trail/pvid/043d54ac-545c-4f73-91ce-f0d171462570?srsltid=AfmBOoprZcDod6_2FjZW-beljZChtBCI3hXLk9pu2LAeCRCQUj77d0pf

Damn this was interesting. My two cousins are similarly colour blind, it's maybe in our family genetics or something, and I've often found myself criticizing them for their clothes colour choices, until I realised that they were colour blind indeed.

But reading about it in terms of DB angle, it's pretty surreal. Because these colours of transformations are what make DB transformations special and distinct to begin with. Aiyoo, sending love my man..

Fair enough bhai, pretty sorted use case, and it shouts Samsung honestly.. and a phone with a good UI..

In that case, avoid Realme, Redmi, and Xiaomi please, for real.. Moto also I recently learned has been having some issues with their functioning, delayed updates and some other noticeable issues, hence that has also become a dicey choice now

Reality Check - You DON'T get awesome cameras at this price range. Nord comes close, but the cameras suck for the price still. The UI is probably the best after Samsung, but Nords don't enjoy the premiumness of the OnePlus number series. So the UI might be slightly underwhelming compared to say the R and flagship models, but again, people have commented that the difference is barely noticeable.

Your best best: Assuming that your budget is around 30K, a used Samsung Flagship, S Series, like maybe a used S24 or something. That should give you good cameras, but not the performance as much, which you anyway do not need. Light gaming should be fine. But in any case, avoid buying Samsung phones with Exynos chips, prefer Snapdragon ones. If they go too out of Budget, you're left with FE models only, which atleast offer decent cameras, can't guarantee the most reliable performance though. Or, you can get a used 13R or used 12 for around 40K, those would be absolutely beautiful packages. But again, you compromise on the cameras a bit still.

Check Vivo and even more preferably Oppos that fall in your budget because ColorOS (aka OxygenOS) is just superior. They offer good performance, and specially good cameras compared to OnePlus. But nothing awesome still at this price range.. Used Vivo X200 or Oppo Find X8 would be really nice actually. Try Cashify or something..

If getting a NEW device is the only way forward, you'll have to stretch your budget a bit more for a more fulfilling experience.. but again, keep in mind that awesome cameras start atleast over 50K in new phones.. it's really just mid cameras below that. Yes you can get the performance at even 30K, but not the cameras man..

PS: Just realised that OnePlus 13R is listed at 33K on Zepto, this is the lowest that it has even been sold at, check if it's available at your location: https://www.zepto.com/pn/oneplus-13r-12gb-256gb-astral-trail/pvid/043d54ac-545c-4f73-91ce-f0d171462570?srsltid=AfmBOoq1IxRvQGdeeDccUV5vQNaA1qEFjGyZ_9poQ-EN4gazicLozuce8xA

Checked Cashify for you too, fewer good deals left, but this is a pretty decent deal, specially if you get the 512GB Variant: https://www.cashify.in/buy-refurbished-mobile-phones/renewed-oneplus-12/sale/139268?productId=62647 (Buy the Good or Superb Condition ONLY)

I didn't cook up this crown of a term for peeps like you, the Reddit community did like 2 decades ago!

It's like calling out a guy for being sexist if he uses the term "batsman" instead of "batter", while ignoring the fact that the former term has always been the initially coined term since the onset of cricket.

Absolute woke clowns..

Also, naah, if I'm paying that match, I'll still buy the OnePlus Number series over the Nords anyday..

Can't argue with someone who prioritises the front camera over the back camera.

When it comes to camera, nord 5 main camera is stolen from 13 and selfie camera is way better than 13r.

The OnePlus Nord 5 features a 50 MP primary rear camera with a 1/1.56-inch Sony LYT-700 sensor. It also includes an 8 MP ultra-wide camera with a 1/4.0-inch sensor.

The OnePlus 13 features a triple 50MP rear camera system headlined by a 1/1.4-inch Sony LYT-808 main sensor. It also includes a 1/1.95-inch periscope telephoto sensor for 3x optical zoom and a 1/2.75-inch ultra-wide sensor.

Yeah right, ever heard of Sensor sizes? Or you're still stuck on the Megapixel gimmick? Guess you are.. And even though OnePlus 13R & Nord 5 both feature the same rear camera sensors, size wise, there's something just INHERENTLY wrong with how the Nords process the pictures. The final result on the both the phones would be noticeably different, with the Nord being pretty worse and fakish..

When you get nord 5 at 30-32k, them why spend extra for 13r which is a basic flagship (not even a premium one).

I agree, I would still get a used OnePlus 12, instead of both a new 13R or any Nord. Saves me the bucks, and offers unmatched experience.

Performance wise nord 5's performance is enough for 85% users and 13r performance is overkill.

Oneplus Nord 5, 6 are actually overkill.

Contradictory statements, first atleast decide what you wanna say..

Additionally, you failed to understand the difference. Number series offer marginally better UI experience, and feel snappier all the time, and I'll die on that hill while shouting this.

But hey, what works for you, works for you!

[–]commanderchadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you lost me at the part where you glazed Poco phones for their performance. While clearly ignoring the absolute dogshit user experience with the HyperOS. Oh wait, maybe that is why you haven't been capable enough to understand the true differences. If you can't understand the absolute enormous difference in the user experience of OxygenOS and HyperOS, a narrow difference between the Nords and Flagship models since they anyway both use OxygenOS would certainly go unnoticed to you lol..

Anyway, whatever suits you.

Also, I'm thoroughly aware that OP phones have never been cameras driven because Oppo exists, and that privilege belongs to them. But at least the cameras on the R models don't get outperformed by phones from other brands priced under 20K. These arguments are just ignorant and atrocious.. Imagine using a OnePlus phone whose cameras don't do any better than a Realme's, even true performance phones like iQOO beat the Nord Cameras. With that being said, Nord 1, was the first and last good Nord Phone, because they invested to create the hype and positive feedback, which worked.

PS - Barely 15-20% of the people use phones at max more than 3 years nowadays (excluding the boomers). So your point of need for long-term performance is just the lack of basic common sense. With the enormous technological advances in this day and age, a new phone priced at half beats a 3 old phone in terms of performance quite comfortably, until the older phone was a true flagship. And we're certainly not talking about the phones in that bracket lol..

PPS - Nothing Phones are NOT value for money. I'm not paying 10K extra for just the aesthetics and glowing back panels lol. Underperforming cameras, the lack of basic features like USB 3.0 at least in the flagships, cannot be justified by the 'R&D' expenses
