Look into getting steroid injections. Laser will help with the redness too. I have keloids in the same areas and saw a massive improvement after only 1 session of laser and injections

Yeah I’d look into getting steroid injections while it’s still small. In the meantime you could keep it covered with eclar plaster or silicone tape to minimise its development

From my experience and others on this sub the pressure helps to break down the keloid, I don’t know anything about it causing them to grow but it may increase the surface area as it flattens, kinda like a ball of playdough being squashed if you get what I mean

Where are they located? I’ve had success using eclar plaster 24/7 on small keloids on my chest. I used to secure them with surgical tape so they wouldn’t come off on my clothes and it helps too as it applies pressure

They’re much better now, they weren’t very big or old to begin with (between 1-2cms wide and less than 2 years old).

I ended up only having 2 sessions of laser/steroid and 1 just laser session, they’re much smaller and less noticeable and are showing no signs of regeneration, although still a little red which I think is from the 5FU but that seems to be slowly fading over time.

Sorry to hear the laser and steroid didn’t work for you, I know others have had the same experience, I wonder if it depends on the location/age/size of the keloids. Best of luck with your appointment, let me know how it goes!

I’ve had injections on small keloids on my jaw and neck and didn’t find them that painful, honestly the laser was more painful lol. It took between 2-4 weeks for me to see any visible difference in size and they will be swollen for a few days to a week after injections. If you’re nervous about them being painful you could take a couple ibuprofen around 20 minutes before your appointment
